I'ma gonna do this but say it's because I am favored by the divine. Then the ignorant asses will give all their possessions for me and we can build a complex in the woods where we worship Cthulhu.
I personally have noticed this: The more bullshit pseduscience there is on the documentary and science channels, the less I watch them. So, yea, they are making a transition to a whole different demographic with their 'optimization'. That leaves us with what, a whole demographic that no one makes programs for, a whole demographic without a channel and something like 50+ channels competing for -fucking hillbillies -high school dropouts -retards -stoners -demented pensionists -etc. Yea, I suppose that those groups watch more TV than educated people or people interested in science and documentaries. Hell, I'm not 'educated', my only degree is BBA so I'm hardly qualified to be a cashier by education, but I really enjoy science and documentaries. Too bad there's no longer any channel that airs science or documentaries. And of course when you get a new series like Cosmos: A Space Time Odyssey, then it gets canned after season 1 because it dedicates a whole episode for climate warming which is a taboo subject in the USA which is unfortunately about the only place on our planet that produces anything worth watching, except for maybe 3 or 4 british shows and the odd anime series that is actually worth watching. The funny thing is that I don't think any of the climate change denialists even watched Cosmos S01E12, so banning the whole series is like some fucking capitalist version of Communist Mind Police overreaction. Even the fucking national geo is showing fake documentaries about fantasy 'monsters' without properly explaining that the whole documentary is fictional production and the 'experts' are actors. But who cares. In 100 years time majority of americans will be outright science denialists because it suits some big corp game plan about not giving a shit if their products kill people.
My fucking god the collector's bundle is cheaper than the base game. Shit, it was only 39 cents. Edit: But we all know who the real star of the show is.... Dihm's octopus in the corner over there.
i'll just leave this here. http://thechive.com/2014/08/16/these-candles-wouldnt-have-made-it-to-production-14-photos/
was that a typo for when they did the discounts? because now its 85% off ($5.99). as in did someone accidentally enter 99%
Not just a typo. A genuine pricing mistake. I actually managed to buy the collector's bundle for $0.39. It's been fixed, but still hard to imagine they had it like that for almost an entire day.
One massive fail. Horses were never nothing but a tool for humans. When they ceased to have utility, they became a hobby of the few. Economy is for humans. It is about trading inputs for outputs and vice versa. Only if someone makes a law that allows an AI to actually own things will humans be obsolete, even then only if AI can research new things, new technology, new scientific concepts. So, if AI were given ownership of industries and had the capacity to invent, if they seized all companies and all shares and somehow seized governments too, then humans would be obsolete. I think seizing governments and politics is one of the most difficult obstacles, if not science.
not to mention if some AI actually did try to do these things humans would feel threatened and it would either end with humans destroying the AI or something out of a sci-fi nightmare with the AI killing capturing or brainwashing humanity. There will always be those who simply can't accept a good thing, no matter how good it might be for everyone.
There's also the misconception that if an AI ever becomes independent and runs a single factory that it somehow immediately possesses infinite resources to push out 150 fully loaded fleet carriers per hour "because AI". Apparently it doesn't even need to produce power, use logistics or run mines. Just having a factory enables it to produce millions of Terminator footsoldiers and flying hunter/killers out of thin air at incredible rates. "Because AI". Another stupidity - Animatrix, I love Animatrix's Second Renaissance, don't get me wrong but there is one idiocy in it that I can't get past. "Had little to fear from [nuclear] bombs radiation and heat" - WTF. Nuclear explosion fucking evaporates steel. It also leaves the blast zone incredibly hot and radiated. There's also a thing called 'neutron activation' that scifi writers rarely get right - it means that neutron 'radiation' produced by nuclear blast is absorbed by armor, it turns the armor itself into radioactive isotopes that emit ionizing radiation. Sure, your killbot can survive a nuclear blast if it's standing at sufficient distance, it can even survive the EMP if it's heavily shielded against it and there's sufficient distance in between. But there's no god-mode just because you belong to "AI faction". If a killbot can survive a fission bomb at 1km distance, it means that humans too can build a machine that is just as good. I don't see humans ever giving ICBM's under direct control of a sentient AI. Russia may have a doomsday robot, but it's not an AI, it's just a dead man switch and it's not perfect - if all of your command centers are taken out simultaneously, chances are that all of your silos will be taken out too. Robots can do pretty nice stuff but humans too have them and will always have them and humans - being paranoid as hell - would never give up all of their toys under direct control of a sentient AI without some pretty solid backup plan. Finally: Asimov's laws of robotics FFS.
