I wouldn't say exactly the same since they copies aren't being destroyed, it just prevents some people from getting them. And there are ways to get around having to use nyaa.

115 or so in the series plus about 30 to 40 OVA episodes and a few movies.

Also Reinhardt von musel's voice actor later went to do the voice for Vegeta.

Original Video Animation or OVD, Original DVD Animation.
OVA's are released on video/DVD first and maybe later they are shown on TV.
OVA's usually have extra episodes explaining backgrounds of characters or story a bit more.
Most of the time it's a bit more polished version of the original series.

When they're not just 99% compilations of scenes from across the series, it's still difficult to know beforehand when to watch them and possibly in what order. Watching them after the series is like "yea.. ok, not that I was thinking about that anymore but glad we got that sorted". Watching them around right time would be nice, like see an episode where someone pulls a weird stunt and then watching OVA which explains what lead to that decision. Just, I couldn't ever figure out how to find out when that would be. The risk of spoilers is great.

As long as it doesnt have that shit like nearly every gundam series where there is an episode in the middle that is a refresher of the entire first half of the season. That shit gets annoying. And most of the retelling is of the previous 5 episodes.
