Cause we did not have a thread for one of my absolute favorite shows and I wanted to share this. Very cool fan film:
I forever live in the shadow of The Captain in our house. We also named our daughter Kaylee....because nerds. Luckily, it turns out my CTO and his wife are also massive Firefly fans. It has earned me much whiskey on work trips on his expenses account. The lesson is : Firefly Love = Free Whiskey!
I wish Netflix or Hulu would fund Firefly to be picked back up. They have proven that a Netflix only show can succeed.. I just wish they would resurrect some old shows.
My girlfriend at the time, currently my wife, got me into Firefly. That's when I knew she was a keeper.
Easier said than done bro. Fighting your way through 9 circles of hell with your other arm tied behind your back, killing the Satan and bringing back his head seems a breeze when compared to trying to get the right to use an IP for good purpose. It's a lot easier to get the rights to an IP if you're doing it for the wrong reasons.
I met Kaylee, At a sci-fi convention, She is very small. Anyhow like most people I fell in love with Fire Fly, Be great if a new show was made would have to be different actors and a unrelated story. As the actors have all moved on now. Perhaps it could be about the gang who Simon paid to break River out of the The Academy. Netflix is fast becoming one of my fav networks, Netflix Original such as Lilyhammer,House of cards ect have been huge hits. Would Fox sell the rights ? I see farscape has been picked up again, Hopefully some one rich is looking at Firefly.
I could see a few years down the road, a story about Wash and Zoe's kid, would give plenty of reason to have the original cast show up as cameo characters from time to time.
Yep Farscape is being made into a movie http://www.nerdist.com/2014/04/moya-flies-again-show-creator-confirms-farscape-movie/ I also met a bunch of Farscape cast at the same convention.
LOL. My 7 year old daughter is named Inara. No shit. Big nerd. (and my 6 yr old son is named Sagan. We had already named the cat Carl.)
Netflix would love to pick it up. Fox refuses to let it go. Hell, the man himself William Shatner publicly offered to buy it.
Joss Whedon's said a few times that he's not really interested in rebooting Firefly, as I recall. honestly, at this point I'd rather not have it get made again. It would never live up to the hype that would surround it. Better to leave it as it is, and admire it (if you like the show) from this nostalgic distance.
well as I've said before, I think if they wanted to reboot the series they'd do better to step it forward in time and start with a fresh crew, than to try and pick it up where the movie ended. That would also leave it open for more movies to fill in the time gap.
At one point i had heard that Nathon Fillion had bought rights for further Firefly movies/shows. guess was just a rumor. there are some pretty epic references to Firefly in the show "Castle", particularly the the episode where his character dresses as a "space cowboy" for halloween a couple years back, excactly ala his Firefly character.
