Saw a bit of this in the unreal engine GDC demo, looked interesting. saw a lot of other games that use the engine as well. NC soft is a south Korean developer. they are known for their grinder MMOs.
looks pretty siq, I think MWO would be a thousand times better with more on the battlefield than just mechs, even if you only piloted mechs, alpha builds would be less desirable when you have to be able to take down tanks or a trucks and helicopters or hovercraft as well as the big guys themselves.
It takes them 2.5 years to make a bunch of golden mechs. My co-founder could have made all the mechs in the game in 6 months alone with same quality. I'm highly sceptical when people say things can't be done that I know can be done. It makes me think they're lying. As for this game, fuck, if they release it I'll continue my discontinued studies into korean language if they don't add english, I would consider it worth learning korean to play this game. Fortunately they had actual english voices in the video so it made me think that they'll also cover english (oh, really? feeling smart today). But I wholly agree with you. Try to alpha someone, then shut down only to be raped in the arse by a squad of anti-mech infantry who literally have the time to scale the mech with hooks, cut through the window* and toss in a grenade. *edit: see through super hard armor
I was sold when I saw the mechs that drive other mechs. Recursive stompy robots. The scale of this also reminds me of my favorite mech game of all time, heavy gear 2. Tanks and infantry being a serious threat to mechs that are more like super heavy infantry themselves than walking doom machines like in battletech.
Yet even battletech has tanks, infantry, artillery and fighters - except in the video game interpretations that usually more or less suck.
all of the mechwarrior games that I've enjoyed playing had these things, except in whatever PvP element they had... because for some reason, apparently PvP isn't allowed to have NPC's killing players, that's just not fair. edit: except turrets. Because, more turrets.
Wait a minute, MWO has no tanks, artillery and what not, so I'll believe it exists in the battletech universe when pgi adds it in. End sarcasm Still annoyed as fuck I can't go around in a tank in MWO and fuck some people up.
If you have faith, one day there will be a unit based game where your unit will be pitted to fight PvE style battles against enemy and manage the logistics and resources of your unit. Meaning tanks and infantry would be part of it all, since if you're given them you won't just put them to sit in the reserve bench. The road to that will be long and faith will be tested in many ways and the righteous will be tempted with mirages and traps.
What I really want more then anything is a gundam UC tactical FPS where you are the pilot, can get out of the mobile suit run around on foot, have tanks, fighters, etc. customizable mobile suits with gear, weapons, colors, physical appearance, and so on. All so I can run around in a Zaku I with a heat hawk and grenades to fuck up some feddies.
(late to the party) oh hey.. what do you know... jumpjets done correctly (7:55). PGI... see... not so hard. and yes.. totally agree with above sentiments on combined arms warfare needed for mechwarrior to work. machines guns and other support weapons like it are pointless without tanks, infantry, etc. PGI should have known better. I will say it again: when your "sequel" offers LESS dynamic gameplay than its predecessor, you are doing it WRONG.
