So today I was the biggest idiot ever and lost all my cash. What happened you ask? I'll tell you. I docked at Serebrov station in Yakabugai and a certain mission caught my eye. They'd pay me 18k for a couple units of indite. Thinking it was good money, I accepted. According to the commodities market Serebrov imports indite from LHS 3447, which was only two short jumps away. When I arrived it turned out to be a binary star system and the station I was looking for orbited the other star. Ten minutes in supercruise later I got to the station, bought the indite and got a data delivery mission. After I undocked and moved away from the station I accidentally hit my firing button and the hardpoints deployed. This is where it gets good. Because I never do any fighting I forgot which button toggles the hardpoints, so I started hitting random ones to find out. > Cargo jettisoned > fuck When I spun around to go pick up the indite I saw a couple Sidewinders heading in my direction. Not wanting to lose the cargo I paid about half of my total credits for I went for it at full speed causing me to smash into and explode two of the canisters. I went back to the station to replace the lost indite, facepalming all the way there. I was so focused on facepalming in fact, that I forgot to request permission to dock! I panicked when I heard the alarm bells go off and boosted back towards the gate, smashing into it and blowing up my ship and the rest of my cargo. I respawned at the same station with a free Sidewinder. Determined to at least make some money today, I used my last cash to buy 4 tons of indite and set off back to Serebrov. I got there without a hitch, but just as I went through the gate an Anaconda popped up in front of me causing me to flinch and jerk my joystick backwards, smashing into the gate and blowing up my ship and cargo. Again. :btears: And the best thing? My girlfriend was watching me play the whole time. She's still laughing as I type this.
i am trying to NOT laugh too much... ... but honestly i have been there as well... all i can tell you is that it does get better. ( unless you're more like me, in which case prepare yourself for more insurance claims). Least you got a nice story out of it all. ( i too have a few nice stories... check further back in the thread) TL : DR....
Planet Hell. located around an A class Blue main sequence star about 1500 ly away from civilized space.
Ok, so after last night's chat with Togg I've decided to first get Elite. It's now officially on the purchase list waiting for funds.
Based on what you were saying about not having much free time for gaming, Elite might be a good fit. I still feel it suffers a bit from not having very much interesting things to do, but in short burst of play (1-2 hours) it is glorious. I'm still hopeful we will get more mission/faction warfare content later.
Well, I guess that just means that by the time I get there it will have already become that much better game
Just got killed by my first player pirate last week, and I had 1 million worth of imperial slaves lost in the scuffle. This was not my best moment, and it might just push me to become a player bounty hunter. This was my first official rage quit moment. I am back though, and got another million tucked away after three hours of trading. Anyone, know how to get revenge? They really should make something in the game for this. Cause I doubt I will cross space lanes with that scum ever again.
I don't play Open very often particularly since Wings came out as I usually have a habit of getting interdicted ONLY when I have FULL cargo. I have since bought a Vulture and doing a bit of faction work in Solo building up credits as trading currently bores me. I may sell up and outfit a T6 and go explore.
Had a good sized group running last night. Wings has made the game so much more playable. Cant wait for multiple wing integration.
i saw that. glad to see it. keep that up and i will come join you guys. it's way more fun with more people
Why don't you get a good paying job at telemarketing like I did? So you can not afford to pay rent and can't even afford to dream of games. The irony is in that I now have the best computer (by relative comparison) I've ever had and DK2 to go with it.
