I generally don't like doing things like this, but shit hath hitteth the fan...So after talking with Dihm via FB and getting his tentacly approval, here goes: As some of you may know, my wife and I have had struggles since moving from LA back to Austin, mostly with my lack of employment and how to survive on a single income (see venting thread). About a week ago, after going in for a general checkup, my wife found out that she's pre-cancerous, and needs to have expedient surgery to prevent things from going south. The kicker with this is that the procedure isn't going to be covered under insurance, and so we'll be completely out of pocket for the payment. We're pretty concerned now, not only about the cost, but also the effects that both the disease and the treatments will have on her health long-term, but know we have the moral support of our family and friends... This is where I leave my normal comfort zone, as I despise coming to people with my hand out: We can't afford to pay for the entire cost of her surgery, try as we might, we can't make two pennies out of one penny and our HSA fund is lacking to cover the full cost as well. So I'm asking for some donations, anything at all, to help bridge the gap. Plz to Help raise the Middle Finger to Cancer Thank you in advance and please share if you are so inclined.

Holy CRAP everyone. I have no words. In under 18 hours friends from all over came together and helped us meet our goal. In less than 24 hours we blew past even my wildest projections. Members of the 'Borg have proven themselves once again to be the very best kind of people, those who step up to help others in a pinch. As a cancer survivor, you and yours WILL beat it. You two WILL kick it in the balls and shove it off a cliff. You WILL buy her new shoes! My wife and I are keeping you two in our prayers. Stay strong!
An Update: Jules (my wife) is doing great, the surgery went without a hitch, and she was up and about the next day with only a little pain. Now we just need to wait for the follow-up check from the doctor, to see if they got all the abnormal cells.
