I heard this song a while back. the music video is awesome. That girl is seriously creepy, the music is undeniably catchy though.
Listened to some of the first one and random samples of the second. I gotta be honest, nothing will turn me off to a band faster than growled vocals. I don't mind if it's used in the background with a normal singer carrying the lead, but if it's the primary vocal, I have a lot of trouble enjoying it. That's the main reason I stick to neo-classical and progressive metal, with some power metal thrown in. You rarely find that style of vocals there.
There is a small problem with "Progressive". Technically, what I linked is Progressive/Technical Death Metal. Progressive is simply a addition to the base genre. For example, you're link I'd call Progressive Melodic Metal.
hmmm... Okay, I can see where you're coming from with that. Given that metal is one of the most diverse types of music out there, it can be hard sometimes to classify what I'm hearing. Neo-classical and symphonic metal in particular can overlap a bit.
