Did you like L4D and do you like Warhammer? From what I've seen of it it reminds me of a melee heavy L4D with a good story and some progression/loot that L4D was missing.
Just out of curiosity, how does a game like this have a story? I thought there were just rats in the level and you had to kill them.
That's why I made the comparison. It's closer to Diablo where the story comes between the mindless slaughter instead of L4D where all you have are four characters with a little backstory and not much else. Get someone to stream it or watch a video of it and you'll see what I mean.
Yea never played much L4D, not that I didn't enjoy it per se, just never got around to it. I have some stuff to play for now so I'll just keep tabs on it.
But... loot! In all honesty, I get tired of grind based loot games pretty damn quickly. Simply obtaining another +5 damage on my mighty weapon of burning venereal diseases isn't compelling gameplay for me anymore. Not saying this game is solely that, and being first person and a little more skill based is also good, but if the reason people stick around to play this is for the gear its probably not for me.
We will try but I have put 40 hours into it (only in beta with three maps) and I still find the game satisfying. I played my first 30 without any friends and had a great time. Then I played with some friends and yeah, it gets even better. The challenge is random and fun (very warhammer but also gives replayabliltiy.) Unz, Mazz, Boom, and I almost died on the first 3 minutes of a level because the game decided it was time. It was awesome. We died at the end of the level, but that happens. If you play to only "grind" loot you will burn out most likely. I play for the fun of the game and enjoy the loot when I win. We only have 4 maps in the beta Haki, but I would say that there is a narrative in the game. You do not just do stuff "to kill rats" every mission has Voice over and a story. Now do people care about it? Not sure. But I personally want to see how it ends. Do we all die? Do we blow up the moon?
Well, I bought it, whatevs. I like how it literally drops you into multiplayer with zero explanations. Died a shit load on my first run through with a bright wizard. I didn't even realize dodge, block and push were things until I read about stuff after.
We did the forest map twice. Once we had a host crash, unavoidable. Then on the second run through while waiting for the boat some random joined as a soldier and wouldn't get on the boat which resulted in a full party wipe. So aggravating!
