The only issue with a mobile wheeled carrier is building it in survival, unless we'll be sneaky and do it in creative
Scaffolding. Place light armor blocks but dont build them. And the one i built is only 35 meters high. Not counting the wheels. Which add maybe another 5 meters. And its only 35 meters on the one side. The other side which ends at the flight deck is 25ish meters. Superstructure side is bridge hanger elevator and crew living/medical area. And its 55 meters long by about 30 wide. Total.
Indeed, but it would be an undertaking, almost glorious in its scale and scope. Glory to the Borf Mobile Carrier
The one I started was considerably larger, but I ran into the bug where even with the handbrake on, the vehicle slowly moves in one direction.
A little sneak peek at things to come: I'm actually building one as we speak that will be capable of spawning hostile enemies. For the official server, expect to be on the receiving end of a 3.5 million killigram "landship". I have named it appropriately... The Marauder. Capturing one for your own uses will be a massive force multiplier when it comes to assaulting enemy bases. For size reference, keep in mind the BOTTOM of this beast is roughly 8 meters above the ground (more than 4x the height of a man).
A little something I almost finished up today. Interior is mostly done. Want to detail the exterior a bit, just not sure what I want to do. Gnome Heavy Industries (GHI) presents: The Frontier Class Asteroid Exploitation ship. It has: 8 refineries, fully moduled 5 assemblers, fully moduled 3 large cargo containers All conveyors set up with sorter blocks 4 jump drives 4 large reactors 24 gyros 4 programming blocks 6 timers (nothing in either right now, but the bridge had a LOT of LCD screens for status displays) a TON of turrets 2 connectors on bottom between turrets for small ships (MIGHT put these on pistons, but they are still buggy in MP) The nose section is merge/connector seperable mining rig. 100% vanilla, survival ready (it would take forever to build tho) All light armor, so it moves pretty quickly, but not suitable for a firefight. Should I add hydrogen engines? I dont forsee this thing wanting to be in a gravity well.
good news: i managed to load my custom map onto the server. bad news: the mods totally broke the server. I called tech support. hope to have the server up later today. sorry for the interruption.
server is working close to how we wanted. just needs a bit more tweaking at this point. focusing on optimizing performance now.
that raven dropship i was flying around in last i think i want to make 3 versions of. 1 is the atmospheric thruster which is what i was in first just add spotlights (seems like an oversight by blueprint creator) 2nd is pretty much the same thing just replace all the atmospheric thrusters with ions, maybe doors of some kind for the crew compartment (for when in space) and i did some testing of that last night in the server and with all those ions it can hover in the atmosphere. also it's about 10,000 kilograms lighters than the atmospheric thruster version. third i want to see if it's possible but make a lifter version where i take the weapons off and the crew area (the 4 passenger seats and 2 internal cockpits) and put a connecter in there (not connected to conveyor system) and see if that is big enough to put a small grid large cargo container with connector in. so you could fly somewhere drop the container pick one up etc. also these you don't even necessarily have to upload them to the workshop to "share" the blueprints. you can just copy in game to blueprint menu.
and I guess to send someone a message on steam I have to add them as a friend? sanchin hasn't been on steam in 11 days. I have started updating the aviation wheels description and i'll see if i can screenshots of the wheels to replace the picture but i'll wait a few days before i make it public. but it seems like he is no longer doing any space engineers stuff at least mods.
i just posted a comment on the respective mod. i don't like that you can't attach a message along with the friend invite.
If you are going to "cross the streams"... CROSS THE STREAMS LIKE A BOSS!:headbanger: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=549981152 (a perfect soundtrack for all those mech design lovers out there)
guys guys. digi is our savior. apparently he made a WORKING LADDER BLOCK. Description This mod adds a ladder block for both small and large grids. Players can climb these ladders and can mostly hold onto them while the ship is flying. Climbing is controlled by looking up/down and only works when your jetpack is off. You auto-hook on the ladder but walking by a ladder at floor level will not hook you, you need to jump onto it to grab it. If there's gravity present, you will only be able to climb ladders that are parallel to the gravity vector (because gravity autoaligns players and I can't avoid that). While on the ladder you can use the dampeners key (Z by default) to toggle ladder control which allows you to not move when you look around, useful for looking around, working on nearby blocks, etc. In-game controls tutorial When a player first latches on to a ladder, a list of controls will appear on the HUD informing them how to control the ladder. The progress will be saved for that player and once they completed all the actions then the messages will vanish forever (or until you lose that stored file xD). Block details Survival ready! Large grid block size: 1x1x1 Small grid block size: 3x5x1 Both cost: - 6x Construction - 10x SmallTube - (optional) 4x Girder Both take 8 seconds to build. The orange parts slightly glow in the dark. DX9 and DX11 supported, colorable, 3 build stages, 2 LOD models (20m and 50m). if this actually works no more elevators for personnel.
