Imagine trying to send an actual cube to space without aerodynamic shaping.

Imagine trains that were just cubes of varying size with very wide tracks and multiple parallel tracks.

It's not that rockets are shaped like dicks. Dicks are shaped like rockets. And that's why science is so cool!

And then they get used to it and will stop fixing stuff like these kinds of chains:

    Online - Broken - Online - Broken - Online

"The signal is still 95%, no need to fix it yet.."

well if they're intelligent they'll have people regularly going through and correcting defunct towers, the problems will come when the degradation outpaces the preventative maintenance.

tell that to the military or where I work, the military would fall apart in two weeks if they stopped doing PM's.

get your guys to talk to my bosses. I've been trying to get them to give me enough time to pm more regularly. Stupid production based thought processes.

There is never enough time to do it correctly the first time but there is always enough time to fix it at a later time.

no in this case it's because they don't hire enough maintenance workers because they're incapable of understanding simple economics, if your tools don't work, you don't make money.

I was talking about how businesses operate.

    1. Set up business that serves some desired service or goods to people
    2. Make it good!
    3. Watch people throw money at you
    4. Hire CEO that promises to take the ROI from 40% (outstanding) to 50% (stupendous)

    5. New CEO cuts back on customer support, pre-emptive measures, maintenance, product quality, R&D, everything
    6. The bare bones versions of services are outsourced
    7. Shit happens
    8. Outsourced company responds "We'll get right back to you about that"
    9. The new CEO moved on with his career to a new company after netting massive bonuses from his idiotic decisions and got a salary increase at the new firm
    10. The idiotic decisions start to hit home and the company starts getting enormous flak from it's clients
    11. The clients mostly stick around
    12. The company hires a new PR guy/gal who tries to contain the dissatisfaction
    13. The company keeps making enormous profits despite the service being shit and everyone being furious about it
    14. The company lobbies policy makers so the system is rigged to make life harder for emerging competitors

Essentially, no one gives a shit about maintaining two links that are within each other's reach. In fact you'd be unlikely to ever get someone to invest that amount of capital to their infrastructure to set it up in the first place because businessmen hate investing money to add redundancy or reliability.

More likely the system will be built with minimum investment and properly maintained only through periods I-II. By III period the maintenance and other support services will be axed so as to produce maximum profit before the people go away or something else comes up.

Essentially, in business no one gives a damn about 100$ 10 years from now if they can have 5$ now. They always take the 5$ now and reinvest it and they'll end up with 200$ in 10 years. It is rational and it means that from business perspective it often can make more sense to gut a profitable company and reinvest the money elsewhere instead of keeping the "nice and steady" company going. Fuck the people who liked the service provided, they don't count.

:edit: Woah we stepped to human sciences for a change! Sociology and economics!

The product life cycle could be seen as "boner height curve".

Then there's the whole thing about how BALL istics is used to determine Space Penis trajectories deep into Venus.

    You're free to do so.

In fact I challenge you to create your own unit system and your own classification of stellar bodies.

    You know why?

Because, imagine if you actually made a better system! That would be so sweet and I'd dedicate effort to help you promote it.
