I only recently started to like W40k and bought the Silver Tower too which made me appreciate Warhammer but I'm glad I didn't buy more of their stuff. In fact I will probably continue to get more 40k stuff but it will be from 3rd party printers as GW is under a boycott from me. But I'm sure they won't miss the hundreds of euros that I have available, they didn't need it before and they won't need it in the future.
Yeah, seriously. They've been so good at shooting themselves in the foot in the past it was kind of a miracle they took this long between chambering a fresh round. I've only been buying the books, mostly Guard books like Cain and Gaunts Ghosts, but man, after the last Gaunts Ghost book I read I was shocked by the quality drop off of the story from the one before it, even though it was the same author. I never got into the tabletop because it was just absurdly expensive. The fact that they're making more revenue despite selling fewer models tells me it hasn't gotten cheaper. GW's behavior has just utterly sealed it for me. Not getting anything with the IP anymore unless it's yar har or the company has been purged of this nonsense.
If I'ma gonna buy some more models they'll be from a 3rd party 'yar har' and I'll refer to them as DAOT creations.
I am a lore hound myself so the mini's, while cool as shit, are more of an aside for me. It is nice to have a physical thing to look at for a lot of the stuff. Helps with the lore. The only mini I want isn't very mini. It's a psi-titan, so like a Warlord. 15 inches tall. in a small glass bell. So other than the codex', the novels, and video games....so like everything but the minis I buy, but for research. Yeah, that sounds better than "you fucking putz, why did you dive into another fucking game universe".
Russia and Finland, two neighbors who both have a religious attitude to moar artillary! Imagine being a shock trooper in a conflict involving the two. Towards the end of WW2 when Finnish side finally was able to mostly finish arming itself and finally had a real artillery arm as opposed to "uh, yea toss some rocks at them or sumthin" the whole fighting devolved to "I'ma attack ohhh shit they saw it and blasted my attack formation with artillery", "I'm fortifying this positi... what the hell! They wiped out the whole regiment!" Also, realizing that *any* infantry unit can hold off *any* assembly of other units provided the attacking units get caught in the open to a fire from 200+ pieces concentrated to one square kilometer... The maths of it were simple: Soviets could have eventually prevailed and by the time they were going to be done their elite Guard Divisions would have been bled dry and the WAllies would have made it to Berlin first. Then someone pointed out that Russia already has a shit ton of pine forest but no Berlin yet. Edit: Man I was always so envious to the MB recce.
Every since they brought out the Primaris Marines and wiped out all of Cadia in two pages I've been more annoyed by the lore than happy. The whole new situation is bad, actually. They're taking away all of the grimdark and replacing it with streamlined modernized hypertech that as no good reason to suddenly be popping up in lore. People griped for twenty years about GW not advancing the story, and then were shocked when they did and it turned out they didn't have any idea what they were doing. When all of the original people who made WH40k what it is are gone, it's gonna be hard to keep it on track.
At least the memes coming out of Warhammer's collapse have been gold. Edit: Ahhhh....I just saw the last episode of TTS. I'm depressed now.
Went to see an airshow at Helsinki yesterday. Was quite nice, Gripen E, Rafale, F-35A from Italian Air Forces made a short visit and it was the first time I saw it flying and what a machine! He didn't even go for the afterburners or anything and still it was loud and powerful - it made a detour from it's routine NATO air defense patrol flight to visit the airshow. And the king of the evening was, once again, the F-18C solo. In the right hands it really delivers. F-35A could have outperformed it easily had it been a dedicated show number but as it were the old Hornet was hands down the best once more.
I wonder how long that will last. GW just went after people making Warhammer 40k mods for games they don't even have direct control over. They're going absolutely retarded with their legal threats against anyone even looking at the WH40k IP now. I won't be surprised if they go after the unofficial lore and painting channels now that they've announced Warhammer+ is going to have those, as well as battle reports. At this rate, I'm going to give GW 18 months max before they start sending C&D letters to people simply taking pictures of their own models and posting them.
They start targeting players and they're going to bury themselves in stupid. And yes, I mean full on obituary level buried.
Causing the end of TTS is already putting them on thin ice over an open grave with a majority of the community.
Reminds me of how nintendo claims a persons video because they played a video game with a Nintendo character in it. Bought two apocalypse sets when they came out, some what regret it as they went a bit nutters a few months later. Here is a good place for fantasy warhammer alt art that is quite amazing. you will need a 3d printer though. Cant be used in official warhammer stores or games but thats a moot point by now. I think their end goal is to have alt art of all the factions. https://www.lostkingdomminiatures.com/en/
