I know a lot of people poo-poo IGN (and sometimes rightfully so) but I though this was a pretty cool list. Whole bunch of games I've never heard of but definitely some classics that I hadn't thought about in a while either. /rage mode on/ I agree about chrono trigger, but wut? why is witcher 2 on 78th place? this game was brilliant I DEMAND JUSTICE, also final fantasy on first and fifth place? really? those games sucks, and are anthitesis of what good rpg should be (same goes for chrono trigger but its plot was good enough for me to not bitch about it) and skyrim really should be on lower position like 100-90 since its basically overglorified sandbox with poor plot, poor graphics and broken gameplay. /rage mode off/
I mightily protest World of Warcraft being in the Top 10. Also, the exclusion of Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines is a heinous offense (if you haven't played it, it is– hands down– my pick for best RPG of all time). I'm also slightly bothered that neither Deus Ex: Human Revolution nor Mass Effect 3 made the list, but they certainly have their flaws (also ME3 is barely 6 months old) so I can see why they might have been excluded.
always going to be hard when you are listing the best games ever, I would have liked to see BG1 and 2 higher in the list personally, but overall not bad.
Diablo 3 is on the list.... I wonder how much blizzard paid for that spot. I also don't see how you can include Mass effect 2. If it qualifies as an RPG how can you not include the superior Bioshock or Dead Space? ME2 is also highly overrated.
Nice games but a great deal of these are RPG wanna bees. Most of the real RPG classics were left off the list.
WTf? half these are not RPGs. System Shock 2? Awesome game, not an RPG. It's a shooter with deep skill trees, like Diablo, just replace guns with axes. And I'm not an ARPG fan, therefore Planescape, etc, not being higher is not my cup of tea.
