Already whacked Amazon, have Crysis 3 and Metro Last light ordered.

Crysis 3, stunning visuals and gameplay I relish, now with a more Crysis 1 layout and level design. I'm hoping for more weapons and more diverse gameplay. If they manage that I'll be very pleased. I actually rate Crysis 2 very highly, whereas Crysis was very enthusiast orientated and a bit hairy in terms of accessibility, Crysis 2 brought fluidity and ease of play, two very strong attributes the console world is known for.

Metro Last light. I admit I bought Metro 2033 years ago. For nearly a year it sat under my desk, uninstalled and alone. I was absorbed in the Stalker series, gripping and gritty gameplay, adventure and horror in equal measure. Metro 2033 is a sort of grown up version. Less open plan, more focused but by god it looks and feels good. More of the same please.

    Agree,disagree or discuss.

Alien Colonial Marines is coming out soon. I don't know about you gentlemen, but I have been looking forward to this game for a few years.

I just hope that it isn't Call of Duty with an Aliens skin pulled over it.

Now that is a game I have a bad feeling about. I fell in love with the AVP game franchise way back with AVP gold, around 2000 I think it was. Now that game had the sounds, gameplay and graphics (for its vintage).

Every other alien game since, particularly the most recent one, I have found abysmal. The content and graphics and sound were there but the rest was, well, poor. Rushed into the market.

I can see the appeal of these games instantly, don't get me wrong. I mean the ingredients for a great game there are already made, you can hardly make a hash of it, but somehow they manage to screw it every time.

One thing I cannot forgive in any game is woolly controls. Compare the infinity ward offering to that from Treyarch, god its like being paralysed from the neck down.

Gearbox is running the show on that and I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Very much looking forward to Aliens. I actually enjoyed all 3 of the PC AvP games. The third one had some control issues, but it was fun, and that made up for a lot. I never tried the multiplayer, and I understand that was what killed it for a lot of people. My fav will always be AvP2 though.

Only major game on my radar for release this year is Bioshock Infinite. Keeping tabs on Blackspace though not sure what its status is after the Kickstarter for it failed to reach its goal. There's also some hope we'll finally hear something about Half Life 3 and Fallout 4.

I quite liked the first Crysis, namely the more expansive levels before entering the alien lithoship, and Crysis 2's polished gameplay was a lot of fun, though the largely linear levels did put me off somewhat. If Crysis 3 manages the openness of the first with the mechanics of the second I might just pick it up after release. I'm hesitant to buy any game published by EA. The bs they and Bioware pulled last year was it for me.

I have had to learn to review before buying since ME3, DAII, Stronghold3 and some others

but the games im looking at:
    Rome II Total War
Baldur's gate II enhanced for andriod
Metro last light, if it's anytihng like the first ide be safe with my money.
Company of Heroes 2, pending user reviews (almost all critic reviews are pointless and/or bought)
Aliens ColonialM, pending reviews (last AVP game whilst pretty good, just wasent up to the level i expected, so am adamant about this withough our extensive research)

Things maybe 2013, or 2014 to develop/come out
The Birth child of Warhammer Fantasy and Total War series.
Warhammer fantasy games otherwise produced by the licensing bonanza GW is currently going through.
Space Hulk in that same area etc

    should be a decent year

Not sure how I missed Space Hulk! Always on the hunt for stuff that is fun to play on the iPad when I am sitting in hotel bars while I am away for work. Getting a little sick of Magic 2013.

Space Hulk looks good, very good. Loved the original board game, loved GW stuff as a child. My brother had the lite version with space scouts?? I think they were.

Had forgotten about Arma 3 entirely. Hope we don't lose the simulation element.

Just to tease you chaps a wee bit. I played the old Spacehulk game on the Amiga 500 and a other version was released on the most awsome console known as the 3DO. Here is the Intro for the 3DO spacehulk sim. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TDfmLY7s7mQ. If the new Spacehulk is anything like the one that was on the 3DO then i will be a happy chappy.

Is not Rome totalwar 2 listed for 2015 ?. I to forgot about Arma3 Not sure when it will came out though i think the two dev dudes are still in jail in greece for http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/09/17/a...tions-completely-false-and-without-substance/.

Lets also not forget MWO we might see full open release this year wonder what the game will be like in a years time.

I couldn't get excited by DayZ to be honest, and found it suffered from Arma 2-ism.

Mainly, the fact you had to respawn and then spend hours running to where the action was. I can appreciate the appeal of both games and I did have some cracking battles in Arma 2 multiplayer, but DayZ left me cold.
