Aye, it's propaganda, that's what it is. Have two species that have been warring for 200 years, the others just bombed the other with biological weapons and the death toll is catastrophic. No worries, here comes captain I Lead The Away Team who sits them down and within a week they're both members of the federation with their entire populaces having embraced the enlightened ideology through and through. Is Rottenberry the one who built the whole concept of "nation building"? The idea that you simply show up, tell everyone that they can now be part of federation and they all drop their weapons and start cheering for they see that it is the beginning of a new glorious era. Now, I hope you're not going to burst my bubble and say next that "fiction isn't usually meant to represent reality and even your favorite brands, whether they're grim or pessimistic are similarly flawed". That would really mess up my head, if I can't believe fiction, what can I believe in? In all seriousness, it is funny how massive impact a fricking TV-series can have on a growing generation in shaping how they see the world and what it ought to be like. The sheer optimism and naivety so deeply ingrained in so many people. Imagine these people having what is more Russian / Slavic view of "we're all being carried by the currents and everything's going to get fucked up beyond our wildest imagination and those that fight the change will be it's first victims". I don't know the fuck I'm rambling about. What I do know is I'm not going to get my arse off this recliner. I'll help myself to another glass of grog, that'll help me get back on track.
everyone here. have you heard about this: http://www.theskjaldborg.com/index.php?threads/feb-25-2017-february-meeting-teamspeak.11553/ if not, why are you not paying attention to the A&E (most important of all threads)? if yes, why have you not responded to it? you see the problem here, right? (if you know and have responded, carry on)
You don't gotta apologize, man. Honestly if "Gene Roddenberry is the architect of a vast globalist conspiracy" was the most ridiculous thing I ever said when I was drunk I'd be doin' pretty good. Actually come to think of it if that was the most ridiculous thing I ever said while sober I'd still be doin' pretty good.
Thanks! I know I'm deep down a negative person, I usually "don't bother" with happy thoughts since that stuff is already in order. I draw my motivation for action from the perception that things are "awful". To me, life is awful and this is a reason to try to improve. Then, this here place is one for relaxation and fun times. I'll try to limit the negativity in future.
