Which RPG? Legends of Equestria hasn't launched yet, and Ponyfinder just relies on the Pathfinder ruleset, so it plays pretty much identically to a regular game session.
Ponyfinder, crappy DM's don't help, and I have a girlfriend who if I told about my philandering ways would shoot me so I would have you not mention them in public!
If the DM wants to run a Ponyfinder game, they should probably keep in mind that Everglow and Equestria are not parallels to each other. Everglow is much more violent and dangerous, and ponies are not the dominant race there any more. And yeah, poor DMing can ruin any game. We had a DM one time that seriously thought he running a Legend of Zelda game. Problem was we were in the Forgotten Realms.
This is when everyone should pick characters from other random fantasy settings and see how long it takes him to notice that he's got expys of Lanfear, Tuxedo Mask, Skeletor and Darth Vader fighting Ganon in the Underdark.
