I think the 25 to 26 long episode animes tend to be better. They don't have to rush for character development. You get attached to a character more then if it was short. You have a longer time to emotionally deal with situations and they build better over a longer season then a short one. The only reason most do 12 to 13 episode runs is because it is much more economical if the anime fails. You only spent money on a 13 episode run instead of a 26 episode run. And if it is a hit you get a feel for the demographic better, better plan next season, and hype build up for next season to get better ratings.
That's one of the reasons I can't watch many T.V. shows. It's more about making money and less about making something entertaining. Anime for me tends to fill that void. Keep things short and sweet. you don't need 8 seasons to tell a good story. I think 20-40 episodes is perfect.
Im a little annoyed with some of current ones. Only 12 episodes in season? What bullshit. I feel entitled for my 100+ episode animes. Realisticly more like 20 -50
What'd be ideal is if they made twelve episodes of content, but then stretched it out with eighty episodes worth of everybody standing around charging up to their FULL POWAH. That way everyone gets what they want!
Fet is obviously lost, its all about Fate stay night :UBW season 2, Hibike! Euphorium, AssClass, Oregairu, Plastic memories, and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. For this season that is.
plastic memories was good. haven't decided yet on Shokugeki no Souma the first episode was good so I think the series will turn out well. cooking. ecchi. cooking that makes people have orgasms.
Rewatching gundam wing (yeah I know it's not the best gundam series but meh) and I just noticed (or maybe it was cut out of the english dub? the sounds at least; since I'm watching the japanese with subtitles) but I think heero threw up in the helmet when epyon shows him his future. The first time he pilots it. that has got to suck. and it seems he did throw up in his helmet the first time he used the zero system.
Never watched Wing Gundam, but maybe I'll try the Endless Waltz movie, at least just because I have the model kit. Also, Plastic Memories is good, can't wait for the next episode. D-Frag is not new, but I just started it and it's hilarious.
gundam wing... I about throw up... Tried watching it a year ago, couldn't get past the 2nd episode. The whole god mode of the gundams and the pilots was just dumb. Made no point in watching at all because you knew they would never die. Oh are you in a Leo, let me throw this rock at you and watch you explode and take three of your friends. Oh wait I have to pilot a Leo and not my gundam, 400 rounds into the Leo later and a few missing limbs, still fully functional and killing everyone around.
yeah. truthfully I think it is the worst gundam series. It's the only one where the gundams are pretty much indestructible. UC? just really advanced mobile suits where the armor is more durable better actuators and such that allow the pilot to live thus the pilot gets better. because not all the UC gundam pilots are newtypes. SEED? also mostly just more advanced mobile suits sure the armor is alot stronger but it drains the battery faster then suits without that armor technology. once the phase shift is gone (if it somehow still has power) it's armor is no more durable than a normal mobile suit. not counting the freedom, justice and providence. (the one that looked like providence in destiny didn't have a nuclear reactor. I don't think at least))
My impression of the Gundam series as a whole is that they were never about realistic machines. They've all been about psychology. And even though they are all war stories, they are all extremely anti war in tone. Anyway, I just ignored the action most of the time. It's never shot very well, and all the series make use of so many re-used scenes that the action is never the point anyway.
yeah they do reuse alot of animation. probably saves on costs. but I would say UC and seed are the most "realistic" with regards to the gundams themselves not being insanely OP to non gundams. and UC the gundams are really testbeds. put all the best stuff and exotic stuff in see what is practical for mass production. So with that technically the 1st gun tank and gun cannon are "gundams"
i'm a tad bit slow on the Anime but i read quite a bit of Manga... i'm watching Currently "Freezing : Vibration" and have re-realized just how much i hated certain characters and plots in this story line. since i read it quite a while ago.
