But... if we can coordinate on our purchases, maybe we can organize some really awesome games... TOGETHER! Some games officially voted on by our community: Borderlands 2 - a fusion of FPS and RPG with a great story and 4 player coop as well! Dawn of War: Soulstorm - probably the best Warhammer 40K game out there! (technically not on sale, but very cheap!) PayDay 2 - some of the best FPS coop to this day; rob banks, steal cars, loot a country! Space Engineers - nearly unlimited freedom in a multiplayer sci-fi experience! Tabletop Simulator - play ANY board game you want! But if you had to pick one, I highly recommend Space Engineers. Not only is there absolutely no barrier to entry, but it can accommodate everyone and will serve as good practice for other open world games we anticipate organizing around (ex. Avorion, Star Citizen, etc.) A good runner up is Tabletop Simulator; my goal for the summer is to organize more activities on the weekend with it, but it's still good for random pick and play board games. If you have the money to burn, also consider these "coming attractions" (these are still in Early Access): Avorion - the best "space mining/manufacturing empire simulator" this side of Star Citizen on the market! Also, I can understand how sometimes money can be tight. If anyone here is interested in taking part in our community activities but needs help with some financial assistance, please do not hesitate to privately contact any of our admin. Our goal here is to facilitate a community that works together. Don't let a little money keep you from taking part!
Let's call this a "mini" State of the Borg update: Now that our weekly schedule has been updated, there are a few things I want to bring to everyone's attention. Mon - still MWO Tues - D&D w/ Ghizmo Weds - RPG Night Thurs - Strategy Night Saturday - Tabletop Happy Hour (1pm) Sunday - Weekend Warframe (1pm) & Borg Group Event (6pm EST) All that said, I want to call special attention to the Borg Group session on Sunday. After a lot of discussion, it was long ago agreed that Space Engineers is currently the best option out there for all of us to play and contribute to something together. If SE is not your normal style of game, consider this: We need at least one game that can serve as a community-building exercise that promotes teamwork and cohesion with our members (ie. allows us to ALL play together). SE will serve as excellent practice for Star Citizen and everything else that comes later. There are NO barriers to entry other than owning the game; you don't have to be "this high to ride this ride". Just jump in and have fun! The game gets exponentially more fun with more people... and we can accommodate any number of our members! There are many ways to contribute on the server (building, combat, mining, exploration); choose what fits your play style! I pay for our 24/7 server so that we can have the opportunity for us to play something together. It will all be worth it if you join us.
