and some people wanted to change the name of The Two Towers movie, because of 9/11
    http://www.killermovies.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-3483-the-two-towers-name-change-needed.html
apparently the actual petition website no longer exists, because, for reasons I'm sure are unrelated, the website failed ;)

If you just take style and not country of origin. Depending on your definition of anime you could say last airbender and legend of korra are anime. Because qnime is becoming more of a style now.

As someone else said, the last airbender is as much as anime, as wine is water.

I would say the people in the video not knowing that sailor moon or DBZ is anime is just ignorance and American bias. It's like movies that have different races of people that actually speak in there native language for historical reasons instead of just all English. don't know about you but I'm 100% positive that the Romans spoke Latin and not English for a lot of recent movies, or Greeks or spartans for that matter.

Since it is hard to tell race in some animes like sailor moon or DBZ and they all speak English there mentality is that it must have been a American creation and the concept of it having originated from Japan never even crossed there mind.

true. if you were watching a dubbed anime you wouldn't necessarily know it was anime. for all you know it was made in america.

As 99% of all of it was actually made in Korea not sure why people care that much.

So half, still means most of what is made is made in Korea. Making most everything koreanmation and almost none of it is anime anyway. I think it is the style that matters and not where it comes from, I mean it sounds kind of racist if it looks the same but it comes from somewhere else it gets a different name?

A nice hidden gem of an anime I watched this past winter, Rage of Bahamut: Genesis. Apparently it's based on a shitty f2p online card game, but the anime was really well done. It's style is a little different, but trust me it's good.

TIL you can just replace Osaka's dialog with Mitch Hedberg routines and she stays completely in-character.

I like this human! She understands!

On topic: I need to watch Mononoke at some point (Anime not the Miyazakis movie, which is great too though). And rewatch FMA AGAIN cause I ran into this:

That's FMA: Brotherhood. If you haven't seen it, it is FAR superior to the orginal FMA.

I meant FMA: Brotherhood actually. Lazy typing...
I saw the original long time ago and remember bits and pieces of it.

    Ignorance is universal.

How can you sell a piece of shit 150€ tablet and a non-working internet connection with a 2 year non-breakable contract for a whopping 1000+€?
How can you, as a stranger, call someone, say "buy this" and they're like -"what is it" and you're like "yea, it's a good deal, buy it" and then they give you their address and end up paying 1000€ + for something worth 300€. All done in 3 minutes.

It's like, someone walks to you on the street, says "buy this Rolex" -"but it reads Rolox on it" "uhh, does it? No, it's a genuine Rolex, 500€ now and it's yours" -"uh, ok".

It is fundamental human nature that humans try to avoid thinking as far as possible. Instead we make silly generalizations, categories and stereotypes so we can avoid thinking altogether. And it doesn't work. Respectable looking guy/girl, who has pleasant manners and seems like someone you could trust, but hey they're asking you to give them money. But they're respectable and pleasant! What could go wrong?

And people actually do fall for "hey I'm a prince in my country and I've got millions on my account but I need 50k from you to access them" -"uh ok, I've never even met you but I'll give you 50k. Not that I'd invest that to someone asking for an investment to their company but since you're an african prince, sure! That's a lot more probably than some startup ever making any money back, right! Or getting steady income from an investment fund.."

It's not foolish to ask, it's foolish to pay, as we say.

    500€ for a 50k watch, not bad?

where there are fools, there will be people willing to take advantage of them. If it's not fake rolox's and Plada bags it'll be Leva's and Gloch's.
