So this one REALLY came out of left field. This is basically Overwatch meets Battle Royale. It apparently plays extremely well and the powers mix things up a bit. The big plus is it is 3 man squad based and you can revive your teammates. Plus it is free.. I may give it a try.
But they have announced an actual 'premium' game in the Titanfall universe for later this year, in addition to this f2p one
Did they ever say they were actually working on Titanfall 3? I don't remember a an actual statement about it.
NO further information. They confirmed they are not working on titanfall 3, they confirmed they are working on a 'titanfall game' that is not this one, they confirmed it is for later this year. Literally all we know, which is 300% more than we knew about Apex Legends up until they stealth dropped it the other day.
Ah.. I didn't know that. Well... that is fair I guess. Does seem kind of weird that they would announce its "cancelation" just to release it next year. Wouldn't that just mean its delayed? Maybe both games use the same engine and there's some shared assets there? Didn't they mention Apex is in the "Titanfall universe?" I don't know, but it will be interesting to see. If Anthem works out, it might be the game that finally convinces me to look at all the EA titles I've been missing out on up to this point (esp. Mass Effect 3, Titanfall). Apex sounds different enough from other Battle Royales to be interesting, but the whole genre is something I've not been very keen on up to this point. Will have to see more details.
Some of us played it for a while yesterday. Overall very solid. It has the same guns as Titanfall 2 did, but in your basic battle royale style pickup. You launch with a squad (mandatory, no solos), you all fly in as a group down onto the ground but you can split off if you really want. Movement is the same as Titanfall except no wall running, but you can mantle over obstacles and move around pretty well, ziplines go up and down. Gunplay is same as titanfall, definitely no hitscan though as you gotta lead your shots if you want to hit over long distances. Its definitely one of the better battle royales I've played, so far bug free aside from Haki trying to join a group before doing the tutorial, which kicked him out but didn't say why.
https://www.pcgamer.com/apex-legends-review/ 93 overall score. I'll actually agree with that. This isn't my genre, but I can recognize a well made game when I see it.
Agreed. It does seem like the best in the genre, but I don't think I will be playing it because it seems that to be competent, you need to dedicate more time to it than I'm ready to commit. Apex seems like one of those games you binge on until you get sick of it.
