So how many decided to go for the alpha? I know a couple of us did. So far I like it, it is a lot smoother and feels more realistic than Arma II. I know Axe set up a dedicated server for it if anyone wanted to try it on a stable server; SoR Private Server [SE]. Not sure what the password is as of yet though.
Yep, was just about to post. Got tired of all the tk:ers etc, can't guarantee that it will be entirely stable though . Problem with this is that you can't just jump you'll need to find some people to play with. Password is asd. Current list of players that I know of: ME! Gabvid Discoshrew Mr RavenWater Xander Lightheart TangoMikeFive(Hipshot) Solomance
I got the alpha, gotta agree that it's much smoother than the previous titles. Tried some multiplayer, and by some reason that dumps my FPS down to a crawl. Think my poor old lynnfield i5 has reached the end of it's time.
I spent part of my weekend messing around with the editor and came up with a very rough (as in: badly scripted) MP mission. Agia Assault Two fire-teams plus a recon element are assigned to clear a building held by a ten-man squad and a fire-team. Heli pickup and insertion (best if piloted by players, the AI and my scripting skills are terrible). Two-pronged assault with a victory condition of BLUFOR siezing the target area. OPFOR is not playable at the moment, but that could be changed in the near future. Should take all of 5-10 minutes to finish even with travel time. I welcome helpful criticism or tips anyone cares to share. Feel free to edit or alter the files as you wish, but please let me know. Try it at night for some fun. And does anyone know how to get aircraft to turn off their running lights? Edit: Link fixed. Good luck. Remember: Intel is always right. Until it's wrong. Updated mission version. Playing with triggers and other widgets to make things go more smoothly.
Agia Assault (v404) A substantially improved mission from what I started with. Helis fly as low as they need to and don't get shot out of the sky before their job's done (with their running lights off, I might add). OPFOR is downright nasty if you're not paying attention. BLUFOR has a greater task now that there is a hostage to rescue and a radio-signaled heli-evac to pick them up. .PBO to play and Mission files included if you feel like tweaking things.
It just entered into beta and this video was quite good showing where the game is now. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lKMaRHm6J-Y

Haki, make sure you go to Properties > Betas > Click drop Down > Dev Branch We are all running the dev branch.
I think I've figured out the laser-guided artillery munitions. It works just how you'd think they would. Point the laser at the target while the rounds are in the air. Rounds splash where the laser points. With a Darter in the air near the target, I was able to fire two shots at one spot and use the laser to switch the rounds back and forth from one impact point to the other.
The Bobcat is my new favorite vehicle. The only thing that seems to be able to beat it is a tank or a ton of AT mines. And there's the fun bit at the front.
I <3 the Bobcat. It has more TORGUE than any of the other light tanks (you can ram almost anything with it and flip it's sh!t like a nerd flips card tables). Other vehicles can also repair and refuel at it, making it very handy for armored units that take damage and are under small arms fire.
This is my new favorite game, and will probably become my main evening game for the next couple of months.
