Also... why is our Admin in a recon/skirmish mech, and our Scout in a Gladiator?

Hopefully Orc and Blue confirm their participation...

Blue I'm concerned about, with his schedule changes.

    It's called "Recon in Force."
Besides, I intend to trick out this motherfucker once I have some more parts to work with...
Fucking prototype mech that costs all of my money...

Considering that normal Gladiators actually go 5/8, I think I can pull it off.

    Early impressions:

I'm pretty happy with the little Toro, the PPC will be the main focus weapon but the LRMs are a good cool-down alternative that can still be pretty annoying.

Dihm looked like he was having fun with the Firebee. I think 1 ton of Infernos are a necessity.

I had to leave before I could see Orc get in position to do much but I think the Gladiator will be a good compliment to the Blue's Talos, they both have a 4/6 movement profile and similarly ranged weaponry.

Blue, the Talos will be a great mid-range mech. Having it and the Gladiator both well-armored is a solid front-line force with Dihm running around napalming people and me in the backfield PPC-sniping and LRM-lobbing.

Yeah. Firebee is tits. Now if only I hadn't missed so much.

Infernos made people very cautious about what they fired off when I was around, even if I didn't hit much.

THIS. Half the time I was doing only about half the damage as normal for fear of over heating. I also believe that for infernos to be most effective, you need roughly about two Firebees worth of infernos (what is that, 16 missiles i think?). With both firing at the same target, I'm pretty sure you could perma-shutdown a mech even if they fire nothing at all. Infernos really do seem to function as a "damage debuff" against mechs (while also still amazing at killing vehicles and infantry).

I would like to request a transfer of 1 TP.

I'm looking to use it to change my Gladiator's primitive cockpit to a normal one (freeing up six tons) and add four heat sinks and two Medium Lasers.

I can probably help you out with that. Let me check and make sure that's a valid operation (haven't tried modifying anything with the new TP system yet) and I'll let you know.

Well, I can pump out 8 missiles all on my own, so +16 heat potential. From my testing, average seems to be in the 8 range. You're correct in your assessment, FOR DOUBLES. For our shit Periphery tech and single heat sinks? One will do the job. An unexpected 8 heat build up, when we tend to already be pushing over the line 4-5, is pretty damn nasty.

Not to mention the boiling of vehicles.

on average, you can count on only about 66% of your missiles hitting, so yeah... 8-10 is about right. and i was only suggesting ~16 heat because then you could do more than just prevent a mech from firing, you could completely lock it down. 8 heat isn't fun, but most mechs can dissipate that and still fire some weapons. still, there are a lot of different variables at play. not telling you guys what to do, just pointing it out as an option.

Okay Orc, I'm giving you 1 TP to do your mods with. Enjoy!

Also, quick thought: What if instead of adding 2 MLs and 4 HS you instead go with 4 JJs and 2 HS? Might make it easier to move around and get in position to use your existing weapons.

Let me know when your mech choices are final and I'll convert your remaining cbills to TP for modifications.

I know I'm taking the Toro TR-A-6. Cost in MekHQ is 2,477,430 cbills, rounded to the nearest 100,000 makes it 2,500,000. That leaves me 1,500,000 cbills which gets converted into 3 TP. After I give 1 TP to Orc that leaves me 2.

Looks like we are going to be a heavy lance for this group, 4/6 is our base speed and we're weighing in at 175 tons. Probably won't be doing many raid/recon missions.

Check out this thread on lance compositions. If you guys are happy with what we've got then we can fill the "heavy" setup. Otherwise let's figure out what part we want to play.

Personally I think either heavy or raid is fine, what about you?

    :hatchetbump:
And this is why bouncing ideas off of others is always a good idea!
The best part is: a jump jet on a Gladiator only weighs 0.5 tons each.

    Mech choice:
    I have a Gladiator GLD-1R.
Cost is 3,941,599 cbills, rounding to 4,000,000, leaving me 0 TP left over.
Skwi graciously gives me an additional TP to swap the Primitive cockpit to a Standard cockpit (freeing up six tons, and leaving two extra heat sinks to allocate)
Adding three heat sinks for a total of five to allocate, I put one heat sink in each arm and each leg and the last heat sink is mounted in the center torso.
Four jump jets are mounted two-and-two in each side torso.
The last ton is a Medium Laser mounted in the heat (in classic cigar-fashion, if allowed).

As for the role, I do have a preference for raiding, but am happy with being in a heavy lance as necessary.

I have my own question for the lance or anyone else, though: should the Medium Laser I am about to add instead be a Flamer?

I think you'd be better served with a ML over the flamer. I'll get your financials finished out.

That puts everybody except Blue at the minimum level for raiding-type missions. The Talos is 4/6, we'd need something either 5/8 or 4/6/4 to qualify. I'm fine either way, if Blue's happy with the Talos then we don't need to change but we may not have as many mission types available to us depending on how we do.
