Ok I don't know the exact recipe, but pretty much: 1. Wrap a wheel of brie in unrolled crescent roll dough. 2. top with brown sugar and drizzle with melted butter 3. Bake to golden brown. 4. Eat on top sliced apples. 5. Die knowing you've eaten the most delicious dish known to man.
Didn't we have a cooking thread once upon a time? Anyway, I figured I'd stick my head in here to get some ideas of how to get picky children to eat things they claim they don't like because of their dumbass father. Example of dumbassery: boiled asparagus which is then smothered in bbq sauce and thrown on the grill. Spoiler You get stick shaped bbq sauce. No crunch, no flavor, just bbq sauce. I'm trying to find ways to get them to eat beans, tomatoes, zucchini, and onions mostly. And it doesn't all have to be in one dish.
boiling asparagus....ugh Try this instead what you need Grill Heavy Foil Asparagus Garlic salt pepper olive oil Tablespoon of water Take about a 2 foot stretch of foil then fold that in half so you have a foot in length or so. Then fold the ends on each side a few times so it seals and makes a pouch. Place prepared asparagus in pouch, add tablespoon of water, some olive oil, with garlic salt and pepper to taste. Fold open end a few times to fully seal the pouch and give it a toss to mix it up. Place on grill for anywhere from 10 to 18 minutes, cooking time will depend on temperature of the grill. Don't like onions huh. ever have it in a grilled cheese? what you need A good hearty white bread butter A few large white onions aged white cheddar cheese Slice onions and cook low and slow in a stainless steel pan until they turn a dark golden brown, add a pinch of salt and pepper at the beginning. Grate the cheese, I use a lot of cheese for mine. Pair slices of bread together and lightly but evenly butter them. Place buttered side of bread down in pan and put a fair amount of cheese on the bread, put the browned onions on top of the cheese and then add some more cheese on top of that and top with other slice of bread. I'm sure you can handle the rest. You can also mix in other cheeses as well like a mild white cheddar or gruyere. This is one of the best grilled cheeses ever. When you have the browned onions and white cheddar mix together in the middle of the grilled cheese its just freaking amazing.
That's almost exactly how I prepare asparagus. I just fry it in a pan instead of grilling it all the time. That grilled cheese sounds amazing though. I'll have to give it a try. I've been eyeballing a meatloaf recipe with zucchini baked in to get them to eat that. I don't really think it'll be too difficult to get them to eat different kinds of food, I just need to keep their father from talking. Someone get me a really big stick.
so just made awesome pizza with pillsbury pizza crust (artisan wheat) sauce made with about 1/3 local blueberry jam/preserves about 1/2 barbecue sauce (i mix baby ray's with a variety of others depending on my mood. or if i have maple brew bbq sauce from michigan, all that) remainder - honey, applebutter carmelized onions (the big 2/3 of a yellow onion worth) deli turkey (thick cuts of kretchmar "oven roasted" from local deli is best i could get locally today) thickest you can get maple bacon the bacon and the onions i flashed with some jim bean maple bourbon mixed with moonshine and maple syrup in the skillet to brown cheese 1.5 wheels of brie some gorgonzola some shredded gouda. and a bit of generic mozarella as a smoothing agent. i think i threw a can of diced tomatoes at it as well just cause. drizzled on top some honey dijon mustard was damned tasty
Onion cutting tip. Put the onion you are going to be using in the frig for 2 to 3 hours before you go to slice it. The colder temperature of the onion will greatly slow down the chemical reaction that causes your eyes to water up.
Had to make these all the time in one of my baking classes for my hospitality degree. They are rather easy to make since you don't need to kneed the dough or any folding, ect.
What's the orangeish bit, Skwi? Also, I found a recipe for tortillas and have been making them and tortilla chips all week.
