Yea I'm pretty excited. Granted, it looks a lot like Divinity Original Sin set in Forgotten Realms rather than really Baldur's Gate 3 in terms of aesthetics and gameplay, but after decades I'm just happy something is coming that should still be a solidly good game.
This is great news, but why so much excitement for this when we have not played Divinity yet? It is unquestionably an extremely good game with a lot of the same DNA as Baldur's Gate and yet we've never organized a group to play it. I would be more inclined to get this if I knew people were going to keep playing it.
Don't think anyone mentioned getting a group together. I'm more interested in doing it solo anyway. I'll group up if people want to, but it's not why I'm interested.
"Okay, so first I'm going to set my bow on fire. This will definitely help since all my arrows will do fire damage. Now, I take my bow, which is now burning with the intensity of ten thousand angry suns, and try to sneak up on the monsters. This is an excellent plan that cannot possibly go wrong." Later... "So, I'm going to stack up those boxes to build stairs, for no particular reason other than just to see if I can." Rolls natural one, loses balance, and nearly decapitates a party member. I see they have accurately represented actual PC behavior.
That's a fair point. I guess I've been so laser focused on "community-based" stuff, I never have any time to consider something for my own enjoyment.... just not enough time in the day.
I could be wrong, but it sounds exactly like the kind of game every D&D fan wants. It takes a lot for me to be interested in a new game and I'm very much a novice to the D&D franchise, but this one has my attention:
I'm tempted to throw down for it, but I've still got so many games to play I don't know if I'm really up to it. No point going early access if you can't even get around to it until the game is released
I am stoked as hell for this game, but I am also not at all interested in paying full price for an early access title that they acknowledge has a long way to go. Really looking forward to next year though
Looks pretty good. It's a D20 system now, but they're carrying through some of the neat environmental interactions and stuff that worked well Divinity:OS.
Saw some article that they used the most picked options (from players) in the character creator and it came out with the most generic dude ever.
Anyone playing this? I would love to run a slow campaign with a group together. Also shouldn't this be in the RPG forum?
From reviews I suspect early access is in good enough shape to run with, but I'd be concerned about wipes if we tried to do a long/slow campaign.
Yeah, I've been down this road before. There's always a reason why its in Early Access which will keep me from playing it. I barely have enough time to play finished games. I can stand to wait.
