I know normally we post confirmed games, but since we seem to all have had some sort of love for MechWarrior or Battletech in our past, I thought these rumors were quite a good sign. What I wouldn't give for a turn-based or real-time Mechcommander type game with a salvage system and interesting single player campaign! http://www.pcgamer.com/harebrained-schemes-hints-at-something-new-from-an-old-franchise/
unfortunately if they want to do mechcommander, they're probably going to have to work with PGI, so chances are better it's Crimson Skies. I'd happily sell off my first born for Mechcommander 3 (I have no kids, no problem XD) but I just don't see how they could do that unless they borrow the rights from PGI at the moment.
I wouldn't be surprised if they sub-liscensed the contract since the Mechwarrior Tactics game was an abysmal failure. Also... noone knows who bought Mechwarrior Tactics after the debacle that was, and I wouldn't be surprised if Hairbrained bought it so that they could make a new game. Basically right now the "Mechwarrior" franchise is in a similar state to the Battletech Franchise post FASA in which noone had a fucking clue who owned what. Ninja edit: however Crimson Skies is still a big possibility as well.... Sky Pirates ftw
Holy shit. I love both Crimson Skies, and Battletech. Don't care which they go for, I'm all for either.
I want a mechwarrior 3. They could always go pre mechwarrior with it and do a succession war instead of something clan or post clan. FUCK I'M TIRED. I MEAN MECHCOMMANDER 3.
I meant mechcommander 3 not warrior. silly me. I'd love to see a mechcommander game that is pre clan invasion though. even if it is turn based I want pre-clan. I'm tired of clan stuff already. probably won't happen. If I ever go into game making (not likely) and make a battletech game I totally going to do a pre clan game and screw all the people who say "wheres my mad cat"
ok.. i'm retarded... some of you definitely said "mechcommander"... my bad. mechcommander 3 would be cool, but i'm not sure if it could be done better than HBS using a turn-based system... they have a lot more experience with the latter personally, i would prefer a true "battletech" game that centered around your characters with lots of RPG elements and combat both in AND outside mechs. sort of like how shadowrun has two distinct combat modes (normal & cyber warfare), except here it would be on foot or vehicle combat. that's where battletech has always distinguished itself beyond most traditional mecha franchises.
I am really cool with any options that come out of this. Another crimson skies? AWesome!!! Single player battletech? Also awesome. Mechcommander? Oh my god I would eat it up. So yeah. I am very hopeful and harebrained games are good and get better with time.
I'm personally expecting some sort of (tactical) RPG in either Crimson Sky or BT universe. Harebrained already has experience in that kind of games so it would make sense. Waiting for more info with interest.
hmmmm Crescent Hawk.... what i would give for a modern version of that game. or even a Mechcommander3 with true multi-player or even just co-op.
