Campaign background and info

    The year is 2582. Star League forces have begun their invasions of the Periphery in response to Ian Cameron's infamous Pollux Proclamation. Border worlds within the Outworlds Alliance have already been occupied, some for as many as 10 years already, and many have suffered civilian atrocities such as the Santiago Massacre. The SLDF is indiscriminate and merciless in their path of expansion. The Outworlds Alliance Militia, being composed mostly of poorly trained and ill-equipped soldiers, is not able to deal with the massive military might of the SLDF washing over their territory. But a new formation, the 1st Alliance BattleMech Regiment, hopes to stem the tide of Star League aggression and protect the worlds they call home.

    Being a mostly provisional unit and having much territory to cover, the 1st ABR is split into company-level units and deployed where they can be the most help to the OAM armor units. One such unit, the 4th Hussar Company, is garrisoned on the planet Haynesville in late 2581 in response to projected SLDF troop movements. Working alongside the Haynesville Militia under the command of Captain Joshua March, on loan from the Armed Forces of the Federated Suns, they will do what they can to defend their world and drive the Star League back.

    As you may have guessed we will be playing the part of the 1st ABR 4th Hussar Company. I've tried to model this based on what the 1st ABR is historically comprised of and while there weren't any OAM mech forces reported in the Battle of Haynesville I thought it would be a cool mission to work with as there is a lot of room in the lore for flexibility. Try to keep an open mind here because while doing historical campaigns is great for giving framework it can also be limiting if you try to follow the history too closely. I want to use this as a general guide while letting our actions help define the specifics and possibly change some of the outcomes. So grab tight, hang on, and aim true, cause this is my first time and I hope to make it as fun as possible.

    I want to thank Magnus for helping me with the technical aspects and for creating a campaign system that is fun to use. Without his groundwork and continuing support I would not be able to handle this on my own. He will be as big a part of this as I am and I hope he has as much fun as I have coming up with the concept.
