Rather than trying to herd cats, why don't we just do this: if you want your mech upgraded, you need to post what you want changed in your corresponding Lance Thread. Do NOT simply say "I want 2 more X weapons and ferro-fibrous... YOU NEED TO BE SPECIFIC!

    By specific, I mean THIS:

STEP 1: Getting Your Mech Ready for Refit.

    a) Load the newest campaign save in MekHQ.
    b) Select the "Hangar" Tab.
    c) Find and right click on your mech. Select "Change site" -> "Factory"
(we are assuming we have Factory level facilities available here. if you are not sure, ask your lance leader first before continuing)
    d) Right click again on your mech and select "Customize" -> "Customize in Mech Lab"

    Step 2: Design Your Mech

IMPORTANT: SET TECH LEVEL TO "Advanced".

You do know how to use the Mech Lab right? If not, get help from your Lance Leader.

Step 3: Record Refit Work Time

Before you select "Begin Refit" (top left), record the following data under "Refit Statistics":
-Class of Refit (ex. Class D [Maintenance])
    -# of minutes (ex. 30030)

IMPORTANT: Try to keep your minutes below 30,000. Each lance only gets 120,000 total. Get approval from your lance leader first if you want/need more.

    Step 4: Create Refit Kit

Again, make sure you are set to "Tech Level: Advanced")
If everything looks right, click "Begin Refit".
Select a mechanic (doesn't matter) and give your new model a designation. Please do NOT remove the original class designation (Shadow Hawk = SHD-XX). This helps us identify what it is (Good examples: SHD-2H becomes SHD-2H Betty / SHD-2H MkII / SHD-2J / etc.) Be careful not to use pre-existing designations!

Now reload the last campaign save (DO NOT SAVE CURRENT) and find the Hangar Tab again.
Right click on your mech, but this time select "Customize -> "Choose Refit Kit"

Step 5: Find The Refit Kit

If all goes according to plan you should now see your new design as a refit kit. Record the total cost for the refit.

To request a refit from your lance leader, post in your lance thread using the following template (using the above SHD-2m Mk II as an example):

    ################################################################
Requesting a refit at your earliest convenience...

This procedure only applies to Mechwarriors, Tankers, and VTOL pilots (yeah, apparently MekHQ lets you customize them now).

Aerospace jocks have it easy (sort of)... they will need to simply buy new rides.

... and yes, unless I say otherwise, this system is absolutely mandatory to upgrading your current mech/tank/etc.
