Rift was supposed to be the shit, now it is shit. http://www.engadget.com/2014/03/25/facebook-oculus-vr-2-billion/#continued
Jesus fucking christ. We cannot have one good thing.. Facebook has to shit all over it. I thought this was going to be a joke. I hope to god zuckerdouche keeps his damned nose out of this and just takes the money.
It was bound to happen. There are too many big players jumping on the VR bandwagon. They either had to sell out or get trampled. Still sucks though
This is what has me curious. But I think the answer is as simple as just financial speculation into what is (finally) a potentially viable VR market. As well as possibly the AR market that Google, one of XZuckerberg's prime competitors, has been exploring with Glass. And I think Mark wants to own some properties somewhat more... tangible... than a social media friendslist in the cloud. That makes Oculus a fairly good investment for his media empire, and it also gives Oculus deeper pockets and more resources to tap. The question is to what degree it blurs the focus of Oculus as a gaming peripheral, and to what degree it boosts development opportunities.
It could be a good thing, so long as Facebook leaves the dev process firmly in the hands of the creators.
History always repeats itself, so were fucked in the ass hard. I wonder if Chris Roberts will have to make a official post or something. Well time to start saving for a 4k monitor.. I should have enough money by launch. >.>
