Alot of people are saying that 2016 is the worst year ever. So, let's see what good have happend this year - New chemotherapy breakthroughs have increased the 5-year survival for pancreatic cancer from 16% to 27% (and is getting better) - Scientists figured out how to link robotic limbs with the part of the brain that deals with intent to move so people don’t have to think about how they will move the limb, it can just happen. - Child mortality is down everywhere and it keeps going down. - Thanks to the ice bucket challenge the gene responsible for ALS has been found, meaning we are closer to an effective treatment. Let me rephrase that: we are close to getting a treatment for a very bad disease because a lot of people (including really hot celebrites) got wet. - A solar powered plane circumnavigated the world. - World Wildlife Fund states "After a century of constant decline, the number of wild tigers is on the rise. Around 3,890 tigers now exist in the wild, according to data released in April. That’s up from an estimated 3,200 reported in 2010" - Volunteers in India planted 50 million trees in 24 hours. - The Juno spacecraft reached Jupiter - California is now powering over 6 million homes with solar power, a record in the US - The ozone layer is repairing itself and all the work we did to get rid of those aerosol chemicals was actually worth it. - A new therapy developed in Israel could cure radiation sickness. - Leonardo Dicaprio won an Oscar! - The giant panda is now classified as a "vulnerable" species, rather than "endangered". - Sri Lanka is now malaria free. I'm sure there are many more good things that have happend both small and large. This should make it clear though that not everything have been bad.
still not sure why wrestlers know so much about tigers, and since when is leo dick, getting an oscar a good thing?
Great positive 2016 list! It is odd that so many people have had such a negative reaction, and in some cases almost a superstitious reaction, to 2016. To put things in perspective, according to the old Celtic calendar the new year began on October 31, and according to the Chinese calendar it will begin on January 28.
I think 2016 being an awful year is mostly just a meme that everyone likes to get in on. For me personally, it hasn't been super great, but that's because I had deaths in the family and I got into politics. Both awful things.
No mention of Donald trump getting elected president? Come on!!! Also we didn't have nuclear war so there's that Well haven't yet
