they interact with the magnetic lines of flux that runs through the center of our earth through the poles, and back around, side note, when a conductive material breaks the line of flux it generates an electrical current, side side note, if their is an electrical current present, it will generate a magnetic line of flux. Which way the current flows is still open to debate. A more important question is... what came first, the Chicken or the Egg?
