I'm getting the feeling that this will wind up being on a special episode of battle bots. What they should do is have several bots per side, one for melee, one for projectile weaponry and a 3rd for overall combat.
Kinda worried. All they hafta do is put the angstiest teenager they can find in theirs and they'll win automatically.
Ahhh... man... was thinking just... Evangelion or something. It's kind of sobering that our real teenagers are sadder than those from a show that's entirely about profoundly emotionally damaged ones.
I just wan't wait for when Megabots gets either a walking model or a functional second prototype for 'testing purposes.' A lot of what they described how their combat would go sounds very familiar to BT/MW in armor falling off and the like America will win, because we always win anyways, so its just going to be a nice video of warmachines fighting art projects.
I know right? When I was a teenager we sat inside playing Master of Orion, Civ, Transport Tycoon or Mechcommander. Stuff like that and of course C&C. There were obviously other games too and later got into sims. Never fought, mostly kept building computers, talking about games and computer parts etc. About the time that games started to go online I realized just how bad it was - playing was no longer about power fantasy etc., it was suddenly an endless disappointment and an infinite source of frustration. And what do frustrated people do when faced with constant disappointment where they lose all control over their experience? They get fucking pissed. If I were to play a lot of multiplayer right now I'd play something like WarFrame. Fuck that shit about playing against other humans, it's not really fun for most people. People want it to be fun but it's not and people get frustrated and it still doesn't get fun. Then there's one fun instance and they regain their hope and then it's just more disappointment and even more frustrating as a result so they get angry.
I get like that sometimes, still XD it is one reason why I've never been terribly fond of PvP games, if I get excessively frustrated with a game I can just pause, save, quit or just shut it off for the time being, knowing that the game is (usually) intended for you to be able to get past that point you can generally take a breather, come back, and move on. PvP if you get frustrated with something, there's a good chance it's something that gamers have determined to be 'OP' in the sense that it works well and is difficult to defend against, unless using the same strategy. I know there are always ways to cheat at any game, and it becomes rather difficult to tell the difference between legitimate cheese and outside assisted cheese and neither of them are very fun to have to deal with, and it tends to bring out the worst in people (myself included, though I have a tendency to let things go far quicker than the average XD).
For me there's also another factor these days - I used to play CS a lot back in the day, like 14+ hours a day at times at worst/best and so. But nowadays, I've really hit some limits with the ability to find time for games and I really get that instant gratification thing. I simply find that I don't have time for games that have a 2 hour fucking docking mechanism at the beginning of your game. I also don't feel like spending my 1 hour of gaming as such: 20 minutes of waiting to find a game, waiting for the game to launch and waiting for everyone to press that fucking ready button 10 minutes of fun times being in the game 30 minutes of being 'dead' and watching other people dick around and try to finish up I think 1:5 is a terrible ratio of good time vs. annoying and bad time. Not a good way to spend my hour. So I rather just play something that's really quick to get started - a single player game eh? And whether it's very easy and power fantasy or brutal nightmare of a challenge, at least I'm in the game 95% of that hour. So I can choose whether I just want to win by kicking ass and chewing bubblegum or if I want a really tough challenge that is almost impossible to beat. With online it's almost never what I want. If I'm geared up for a good fight suddenly the teams are fucked and I don't see a single enemy during 10 minute match. And then in the next match my team just suicides and then I have to fight alone against the most cheesiest OP abusing professional team on the planet. Even when it's PvE it's difficult to do it properly with multiplayer because simply when you try to set up a game it just takes a lot of time in many games to simply get started. Not so rare that first 30 minutes is waiting up and trying to get started and then after one 15 minute game there's no more time to launch another.
