I may be new to the forums but I was wondering how many military veterans are in the Skjaldborg? It doesn't matter what branch or even what country. The reason I am posting this, is that military veterans often have a different viewpoint or are able to see things from a different point of view and I think that this could be an untapped source of strategy when it comes to any upcoming operations. I am going to start this off: Please use the following format: Country and branch of service, Amount of time in service, Military Job and finally, Duty Stations. United States Navy 15 years Weather observer and Paralegal Duty stations: Monterey, CA; Operation Deep Freeze; NAS Bermuda; NAS North Island, CA; USS Tarawa; Newport, RI; USS Enterprise; NAS Oceana, VA.
Sorry Trev, didn´t match that there is already a thread for this - but wanted to inform all about that too @Bigfoot 4 years in German Navy as a communicator, units: at the beginning after basic education landing boat for 4 month, then tender of 5th mine searching squadron for 2 years (rank private 2nd and 3rd class), after education to corporal 3rd fast patrol boat squadron class 148 Tigerclass - 2 years on type boat P6141 Tiger Cooperative Jaguar, some maneuvers in north sea, to the scandinavian waters (my first visit of a foreign country was to Sweden - and I noticed that I live in the wrong country - I am able to remember as it was yesterday to the two ladies Maja and Inga, who my fellow mate and I played some rounds of pool with the ladies ) up to a last big maneuver in the Irish Sea: at the beginning entered Faslane (with little weekendtrip to Glasgow) after 3 weeks of pain but also fun entering Edinburgh at the harbour festival - had some fun in club with local lady(s) and then making transit trough the channel to enter the harbour of london, having a great weekend at the end of my career within the Navy and last broght home by plane
My bad on this Bigfoot, I musta selected your thread and merged it with a completely unrelated thread. Moved it to General Discussion in the Skjaldborg forums and put Yamabushi's response here to.

USAF 2E031 (radar tech) Vandenberg AFB, CA honorable discharge for silly reasons much sooner than I would've liked
United States Navy 6 years Machinist Mate, Nuclear (yes, I know how to run a nuclear reactor) Duty stations: USS Carl Vinson, Desert Storm/Desert Shield. Got out in 95. One trip to the sandbox was enough.
Not bad actually. I rather liked it. Close to Santa Barbara, just a quick trip to San Luis. Fun little beach, when it's not closed for those damned snowy petrels. Free artichokes on the way back from base during harvest. And the glorious Kobe beef Hawaiian burger from the Jalama Beach Cafe. You didn't like it? I've never needed big cities though, so that may be why I didn't mind it.
oh I had no problems with Lompoch, I just know it's a bit small for most people. Actually preferred Lompoch to Santa Barbara, but then I don't really like to spend an hour driving for anything short of getting laid

United States Navy 2 years Aviation Electronic Technician Duty stations: VF-11 Red Rippers; NAS Oceana, VA; CVN 69 Dwight D. Eisenhower. Other than honorable discharge for some Bullshit, lowest ranking person on a plane check, when the pilot found a quarter (25 cents) in the intake of the aircraft. Official Reason for discharge, Disobeying a direct order.
Damn. That shit happens to maintainers all the time. It does make every hump to make sure there's no FO around the aircraft, especially the new guys. But a discharge is a shitty way to discipline.
it was kinda the last straw counting two other incidents, to be totally honest, but still.. One was awol for 7 days, the other was awol for 10 minutes.
