Sovereign Military Order of Malta is a real country. It can issue passports, it has it's own register plates and stamps. It is a permanent observer member at UN. However, they have no land territory, though they have embassies in multiple countries. It was established in 1099 and was moved to Rhodes in 1310 after loss of "Holy Land". After loss of Rhodes it moved to Malta in 1530, losing it in 1798. Their headquarters are in Rome. They are ruled by Grand Master Fra' Matthew Festing. They have 3 citizens, 13 000 members and 80 000 volunteers, including 20 000 medical personnel. They are one of the largest humanitarian organizations that exist. In countries like Germany, France and Ireland they're a major provider of first aid training and medical services. Motto: "Tuitio Fidei et Obsequium Pauperum" (Latin) "Defence of the faith and assistance to the poor" http://www.orderofmalta.int/?lang=en
