Nope, outside of US we use hectars in most places because no one likes to use units that don't work with the decimal system. That is why we have the decimal system in the first place - to avoid awkward multiplications so we can just shift the comma. But that in a lot of our world we use comma as decimal separator is a whole another story.

The problem with your assumption that a vegetarian / vegan uses land and displaces animals is that an omnivorous human being uses a lot more land depending on the type of meat one eats, for instance cattle have an appallingly poor energy efficiency and end up using multiple times the same amount of land to provide same amount of food.

However that is not as serious of a problem as it's made out to be. I urge anyone to look at world's map and locate Siberia. We could probably feed another 30-50 billion people with all that land with ease, assuming they ate steak.

But I still don't like people unnecessarily punching or hurting production animals. Unconsentual 'love' is also very much a no-no in my books even if the cow moo's in supposedly accepting tone.
