Are you really gonna split hairs here? Schlong or dildo, your ass hurts the same at the end of the day.
THREAD: I've been watching quite a bit of this streamed the last couple of weeks. I'll admit, I'm pretty damn interested. I'll probably end up pulling the trigger and pre-ordering here any day.
So, remembering nothing else about this and watching the gameplay trailer gives me the following impression: TF3
Is there anything wrong with TF3? I for one can't wait to be hunkered down in a hallway, minigunning any and all who come into view!!!
I see your comparison, and I raise you one of my own. Overwatch looks like it came about 9 months after Rainbow 6 took TF2 up to makeout point on prom night. The gameplay is a hell of a lot faster than TF2, and it really builds out the concepts of the different roles with the various characters. Yea, you can group them into a few general archetypes, but the characters within each group play out very differently. For example, two characters you have in the offense group are Tracer and Pharah. The former is a very high mobility glass cannon with two pistols that are best used at close range, and the latter can use thrusters to fly into the air and fires rockets that deal aoe damage/ knock back enemies. In the defense category you have snipers that excel at holding choke points, characters that lay traps, and tanks that can soak damage. Some tanks, for example, do this by literally employing shielding abilities, and some will use abilities that grant self-healing to sustain themselves for prolonged periods. Characters can be swapped at any point in a match, so you get a cool dynamic of a composition shifting to try and counter that of the enemy team. I think it'll be a blast.
I didn't say there was anything wrong with it being TF3. Judging by the success of TF2 I espect it to do well (and sell lots of hats/skins), as we are probably due for a new quality arena shoot-em-up
