So I'm sharing this here because we're all gamers so we all spend a lot of time sitting down. Hopefully this'll save some of you some back pain later in life. http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/57654.php As this study would have it, it turns out that reclining (at 135 degrees) with your feet on the ground is the best position for your back to be in when you're seated. Sitting up straight is the worst position to be in, contrary to popular belief. Even slouching forward is easier on your back than sitting up straight. Now go redesign your Star Citizen sim-pits!
who knew all this time my poor form was helping me out!! the 135deg layback isn't too far from the 30ish deg layback in the f16's aces 2 seat, with how many high quality simpit designs there are for that you can just about ignore having to re engineer it. It also gives you an excuse when you are telling your wife why you need to build a sim pit, granted her comeback as to why you are spending so many hours there that you needed will be all up to you to answer.
I tried straight sitting some ago and couldn't do it. Always been a fan of relaxed backwards leaning position. Even the car seat is set up like that because, driving a long trip any other way ends up with back pain. Similarly a 14 hour session by computer quickly reveals the flaws up 'sit up straight' pose. Another thing - cursing helps alleviate pain. So, the "good conduct" people hate mankind. They try to ruin our backs and prevent us from self administering pain relief. Them fuckers...
So all those prissy prigs telling you to sit up straight to help your posture have really been destroying your vertebrae by degrees. I knew it.
