It looks incredibly exactly like fallout in space without being fallout. It even has bullet time instead of VATS.
Aaand... the hype is gone. Bye bye hype. Maybe next time. https://www.pcgamer.com/the-outer-worlds-and-control-will-launch-on-the-epic-store-not-steam
Also available on microsoft store, but yea, not buying EPIC store, screw that. Maybe when it comes on Steam a year later or console purchase.
If the Epic store was actually a decent competitor to Steam I could see it. But right now it is nothing more than a glorified launcher. I am happy for the competition, but this is not really competition. They don't care about the customers. They only care about the developers.
I'm not convinced they care about the developers either. They're bribing people to take a bigger cut of a much smaller market share and providing absolutely no services other than a glorified credit card reader. Valve and GOG provide support, forums, reviews, community portals, etc. 30% is an industry standard cut, and both Valve and GOG earn it. Epic doesn't do shit for their cut of the money. Yes Valve has a LOT of problems. But they provide a solid platform with a ton of features. Epic launched their store with NOTHING in the form of features. They didn't even have a search bar when they first launched, and Ashen players are STILL using the Steam forums for tech help because it's the only one available. And Obsidian is now doing the same thing the Metro guys did, taking advantage of someone else's store front to advertise their product while selling it somewhere else. The whole thing is just shitty behavior all around. Besides all that, exclusivity does not create competition, it removes it.
What's the matter guys, do you not have a PC? Just download 15 launchers so they can spy on each other
build a netPC, download all the shitty launchers under a fake account, create a bot program that cycles through ads on each launcher and purchases any free software, but never installs it and have it going round and round building up this completely bogus profile and screw with their metrics... Then do this 1000 more times in virtual PC's >.>
Same. Will NOT be buying this from Epic. We can get this from other sources after the exclusivity deal with Epic runs its course. We just need to be patient. After looking at the backlog of games I still have yet to finish, I have some small comfort that there are other perfectly good games I can play in the meantime.
I heard word that Outer Worlds will still be available during initial release from the Microsoft Store because fuck Epic and their basic bitchness. Not sure it's true, but worth looking into for those that don't want to wait.
Yeah, I hear it's far from ideal (don't know much about the MS store), but for those who don't want to support Epic's shitty business practice, at least it's an alternative. As for me, I don't mind waiting for a later release. I will likely have plenty to keep me busy in the meantime.
