I would think the cover of the book would be pretty explicit. :p If you want to know more, there's a few books available. XD

Seriously though, Phule's company is about a rich dude who pays in to get a commission and gets sent to the worst company in the galaxy. Which he then turns around completely, with some unorthodox tactics and sometimes personal expenses to supplement where the military fails to provide.

For instance the British empire and.. well, most if not all empires for that matter.. were built by officers that were derived from the aristocracy.

The thing about aristocracy is that back in the day they were raised to lead other people, in peace and in war. In fact it used to be that aristocracy was synonymous with the military elite, often synonymous with the professional elite cavalry.

Similarly there was often but not always a tendency for the military aristocracy to reduce their military obligations and increase their influence and power. See French aristocratic cavalry or the Janissary corps or the Praetorian Guard for some reference or the Prussian lower nobility as counter example.

Therefore while it is a common trope that "rich kid is stupid and incompetent" in reality we often see that a wealthy background tends to correlate well with self discipline, good education and good life skills and practices. Meanwhile poor background tends to correlate with shorter life expectancy, ignorance, obesity and substance abuse. Correlation is not same as destiny or "will be". It merely reflects that we can see that the very things that enable people to stay rich or prevent them from ridding themselves of poverty have some tendency of being passed on.

the 'stupid rich kid' is more of a venomous wish in most cases. Sure they exist, just like every stereotype that has ever been has had a prime example. On the whole however just like every group is frequently typecast by the vocal minority, so is true of the wealthy. Those that stand out and make fools of themselves will be seen more easily and identified more readily, than those who follow the path, or even those who choose a different direction, but are less interested in showing everyone the path they're taking.

On the whole though it'll come down to numbers, there are fewer that are wealthy, thus making any number of the vocal minority a larger percentage in comparison to other groups. This is also amplified by the available capacity for stupidity. An idiot who is poor can only be as visible, and stupid, as he is capable of making himself with the resources available to him. A wealthy idiot simply has more resources by which to make himself more visible, and by which to allocate towards his general stupidity.

Overall though, it's the availability of resources which tends to make the difference between rich and poor, not just in the sense that having money opens more doors, but having a family name and notoriety (good or bad) can also open doors. Unfair as it may be, there aren't many reasonable methods by which to mitigate these facts (if any).
