So I'm looking to pick up the Track IR, anyone have it and know whether the track clip PRO is worth it vs the regular one? Can't really find reviews of the difference.
I run the TrackIR 5 with the Pro, the pro is better from everything that I've heard since its self illuminating and not having to deal with reflecting. That said the pro clips have issues with the pivoting joints on the arms breaking the small plastic tabs that hold them together. Mine had one broken when I bought it used, since then the other joint has also broken. My solution was some 5min epoxy to set the first one and then the second one I've used electrical tape to set in position to aim it correctly. There are some guides so that you can build a diy illuminated clip but I've managed to get mine fixed well enough not to bother building my own custom one.
i too have the Track Ir5 .. both the passive hat clip and the Pro active setup. unless you have a desk that faces AWAY from a window that has sun streaming into it... (sun streams into your room and hits the Monitor ( which has your track ir5 sensor sitting on it)) there is absolutely no difference in the response time/accuracy of the passive vs active setups for Track Ir. TLR... get the passive unless you cant wear a hat....
So you need a hat for the passive clip? Not an issue but I wasn't sure what the passive version entailed that was different? Just a different clip?
have TIR5 as well, it's a game changer. tried the cheapo DIY versions, fiddled with them for hours without luck, bought the TIR and wished i wouldve done it so much earlier. its fucking amazing. i use the proclip, though i didnt have any issues with the hat clip. the proclip is just far more convenient since i game with a headset and the proclip easily attaches to it while a hat can get uncomfortable during lengthier sessions. one other suggestion i have if you arent in a massive hurry to pick it up and intend to go through amazon - check out camelcamelcamel.com and look at the price history. while apparently it hasnt as much lately, back just a few months ago you can see that it regularly dropped about 10% in price every 1/1.5 weeks. set yourself an alert for it to email you when it drops below a certain price and you can get it "on sale" when amazon's pricing algorithms drop it for a brief time when they get in new stock or whatever triggers it. good stuff.
Yea I originally wanted to get a TrackIR a while ago, but then last year it looked like VR stuff maybe coming out soon, but now I don't really think anything is happening this year so I'm going to get it, plus its not that expensive. Warthunder Sim and Star Citizen are my top two games I wanna try.
