This just might be the kind of game we could all enjoy. Still in Early Access, but a very strong candidate for our watch list. https://store.steampowered.com/app/892970/Valheim/ ABOUT THIS GAME A battle-slain warrior, the Valkyries have ferried your soul to Valheim, the tenth Norse world. Besieged by creatures of chaos and ancient enemies of the gods, you are the newest custodian of the primordial purgatory, tasked with slaying Odin’s ancient rivals and bringing order to Valheim. Your trials begin at the disarmingly peaceful centre of Valheim, but the gods reward the brave and glory awaits. Venture forth through imposing forests and snow-capped mountains, explore and harvest more valuable materials to craft deadlier weapons, sturdier armor, viking strongholds and outposts. Valheim Server: LANScape! 173.237.72.118:28700 PW: 0b75ef31 Punishing viking survival. Server has space for 10 users.
Is that 10 total? Or 10 at any given time (like 20 people could have characters on the server but only 10 can actually play at the same time)?
Just heard about this game, sounds promising and looking really good for EA. From what I understand it is 10 concurrent players Fet
My understanding is you carry forward some form of your progress whatever server you join, so character persistence? Watching ESO’s two part intro was very interesting. I like how accessible it appears to be
You keep the crafting progress and inventory. If you eat it in one server. Your stuff is gone for that character on other servers. It even suggests creating a sperate character for online vs solo play.
This looks neat! Is it like we purchase on Steam and then log in to the above server, or does the server let us try out before buying?
I don't know of any games these days that are doing "try before you buy". If you are worried, you can always try remote play through someone else's account. Still having trouble findiing the server. Server browser window does not seem to display all servers. Have you succeeded in direct connect and how?
No free trial unfortunately. also found this, about setting up free dedicated servers https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/valheim-how-to-easily-setup-a-dedicated-server/
Ok.. I figured out how to direct join easily on a Valheim server. It requires using the old-school Steam Servers search UI (not in-game), but it's not terribly difficult to figure out. Go to top left of Steam window -> View -> Servers Select "Internet" tab, under "Game" drop-down, select Valheim Easiest way to filter search is with "Map", but we need the map seed from Solo.
Nice Magnus. I was able to get on the server and start exploring. Found the dock camp, plopped down a bed, stocked some chests. Found the first boss camp, found an old village, building a mountain bungalow. Will post a map of what I have found later for other people to reference
What's the deal with this? If I was playing on and off at European times (so mostly solo within your world), would I get anything out of it and be able to contribute to the whole? This wasn't on my radar, so asking before I tack from my existing games list over to this one.
Everything is persistent, we share progress and build collectively. Seems like someone is always around building something no matter what time it is. Viking communism as we strive for Valhalla
