I just got this in the steam sale. Its a multiplayer WW1 trench warfare game with persistent elements. I have only played about an hour but it has some pretty cool dynamics. Has anyone else tried it? The custom squads + Squad XP is pretty awesome. http://store.steampowered.com/app/242860/
A great youtube channel called "The Great War" Which gets me in the mood for this game: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCUcyEsEjhPEDf69RRVhRh4A Its a 100 years after, its an anniversary remembrance.
lol, I literally discovered that channel just last week; I plan on marathoning their videos once I find some time. As for the game, I like the idea of focusing on WWI ground combat (this isn't the first game I've seen do this, but it's the first FPS I've seen). In short, color me intrigued!
I have put 4 hours in over two days and I am loving it. The progression system is great. It also encourages play with friends though the way you can level up squads together. The combat has the highs and lows of real WWI combat. Sometimes its a brutal back and forth, sometimes its all death. The servers are 32 players max I think, but the re-spawn rate keeps it feeling lively. I also finally figured out how the commands for squad NCO's work and I am having fun with those mechanics. Also there is Gas attacks...Talk about putting you in the mood.
Me and boom have been playing it and it helps our MWO gameplay too. IT forces you in to a more objective based thinking and rewards teamwork well.
I have played this a little bit with Wolf Ward. I like it. Reminds me abit about Red Orchestra 2 which is a good thing.
Damn you cerlin for introducing such a balls in my mouth fun game! Can't wait to be able to play it without it crashing.
Ok, so going on a hunch i had when i woke up this morning, i hopped on my pc and updated my graphic drivers. Apparently they havent been updated since 2013 . Played a few games of Verdun with no issues. Also, i have broken the even KD mark, 59 kills, 57 deaths! Everything so far FEELS good to handle, from the different style rifles, to the pistoles to the LMGs I've used so far. It all feels right and they all feel lethal as my genitals, which are very lethal. Super lethal. Death Star lethal. I've fallen in love with this game. I HIGHLY recommend you all pick up a copy. Doing so while its on sale would be great but I feel this game is more than worth full asking price. In fact, I'd say that I'd drop $40-50 on this game... maybe even more.
One more day of a sale folks! I highly recommend this game for even full price. It has great objective and team based play. The ambiance and design of the game is very good. Nothing like the feeling of working your ass off for a draw. It makes the wins even more sweet. We have started to get decent at taking trenches.
We play on the weekends at more "euro friendly" times. Just find us on TS or add us on steam and it should be easy to match up sometimes.
I bought it last night, couldn't believe I hadn't seen it before! Bit of a learning curve, but I love the slow pace, alternating between rushing and creeping, and the objective-based play. This is unusually fun for an FPS.
Also the part I feel it does a lot better than other games is the way it lets you join your friends. Once you have friends/steam friends you can easily find and join their game. Also making squads together is very easy. You only get points if you make it to the end but the game format overall is very friendly to group play which I appreciate. Also a decent portion of the game is behind a co-op XP barrier so playing with friends is important long term.
Very fun game, would recommend. Sells the WW1 theme pretty well. A very fun twitch shooter. I was addicted to it like crack for a few weeks.
