So apparently the game keeps some kind of online record of your profile on an official HBS server. Nevermind the problems I have with this. What's worse is that if for some reason your local data and server data fail to syncronize, YOU LITERALLY CAN'T PLAY THE FUCKING GAME. Goddammit...why did it have to be THIS game. Apparently this can happen if you have mods installed when they release a patch. Even if you don't use mods, EVERYONE, make sure you turn OFF the steam cloud save function in the game's properties (updates tab). Save yourself a headache.
Yep. Pretty much why I dont use mods. If the game gets updated and the mods haven't been updated it won't work. And since there is no official model support... yeah. Now if they had been under paradox since the beginning they might had have had mod support implemented. (Or put in)
No no.... Mods good. Keeping player information on an off-site server that can potentially prevent them from playing the fucking game.... baaaaaaaad. The mods aren't the problem. They actually work fine. It's their server that is fucking things up. This game shouldn't even have something like that. It's like some pseudo-always online bullshit, but different in that it only causes issues when there is a patch.
I get that. But I wonder if it was always intended or something paradox had them do. I bet if pre paradox it would have no issues even if the mods were never updated when the base game got updates. I feel like it's something that got screwed up/shoehorned in when they got paradox support.
I don't know. All I know is this just sucks. It's just fucking awful. I've never encountered such a stupid reason I couldn't play a game.
