Well, except for the fact that EVERYONE called that one...even before it released.

 

I wasn't taking personal credit. Like you said, we all saw that coming.

Think I may give Wildstart another go it seems.

Alas, the workings for it were there... which is sad... here's to hoping they do it right. (Yes, there is a right way to do F2P conversion. Just don't think I've seen too many do it... kinda at a loss of an example here.)

For anybody planning to start playing when it goes F2P, you can pick up the standard edition for $1 this week from Humble Bundle to get all the founder benefits ... something? I guess the founder benefits were a one-day-only thing and I can't really figure out what the standard edition gets you now.

 

Wow.. I wonder If I can buy that and get a month of service that I can add to my subscription...

 

They were wondering the same thing over on Reddit. Official word is the 30 day subscription can only be used for a new account.

 

Damn.

 

I d'know, from my limited f2p experience I'd say MWO found a good balance.

 

There are some really good examples of F2P, Path of Exile, DOTA 2, TF2, and Heroes of The Storm... but MWO is not a good F2P model.

This actually looks like a very reasonable F2P system. I hope it works out for them in the long run, Wildstar was such a diamond in the rough.

 

me too, I'm hoping there'll be a lot more interest in the 'borg from people who didn't want to pay subscription, as well.

 

apparently they instituted a first and last name system, so all characters will need to be renamed
