    Pretty sure that's what I said XD, but you declared it an alternative to a vice :p. Personally I prefer a rack and pinion style mount but we use what we have available XD

    No. You're missing the point. These are not clamps for glue ups. Vises also are not clamps for glue ups. I recommended these as a way to hold a board secure enough, on the flat bench top, to do plane or chisel or saw work on.
    Glue ups need parallel pressure, like from a parallel clamp or series of bar clamps.
