More proof the light is not what it seems.

The lightforged dreanei are going around dreanor like the Franks did under Charlemagne. Giving people two choices. Join the light or die, with some not being given the option and it forced on them. The sword Anduin uses is called Shalamayne which is a direct reference to Charlemagne. Charlemagne was not a very nice person. Through his actions tens of thousands died from him trying to force Christianity on people. Going so far after conquering the saxons to not allowing them to form groups outside of church.

I fully expect Saurfang to have the light forced onto him so he can regain his “honor”.

Ugh I hope not. I'll be annoyed if they make Saurfang into Ill-again. What a waste of a great character that'd be.

I think it could happen in two ways.

Anduin wants him to come to the light to regain honor. He decides not to because it’s not what saurfang wants but the light forces him to anyway. The other way would be if Sylvanas does bring back arthas with him being horde. This would cause Jaina to lose what ever mental stability she may have left and saurfang to rage because of what arthas did to his son. Even more so if arthas brings back deathbringer saurfang as his lieutenant. Varok Saurfang would probably decide to then be lightforged and go all in with it. Would probably go crazy inquisition of kill all that refuse the light. He would then be called Lightbringer Saurfang, while his son is deathbringer Saurfang. Maybe even a late tier raid against lightbringer Saurfang with his son as our aid and give him the same honorable death he gave his son.

I don't think they'll fuck with The Light and make it evil. Because they'll write themselves into a corner with any classes that use The Light and having to make it not evil again. Also, I don't think Blizzard is that subtle.

They're in fact the total opposite of subtle.

When we get to Argus we resurrect the Prime Naaru. She immediately tries to do to Illidan what Sargeras did.

It was kind of a hamfisted way to make the Naaru more interesting.

The Scarlet Crusade is a fine example of people that use the light and do not always have good intentions. They kill anyone that gets in the way of them killing undead, or anyone that may help them in any form.

I guess Ghiest and LagCat made Alliance toons on Argent Dawn, which is where my main is.

For those wanting to join the guild I'm in, send mail to Koriander and she'll arrange a time to chat. I let her know to expect to hear from you. It's pretty much just a get-to-know-each-other interview, no application or any of that formality, plus she'll go over the guild rules, how to try out for the set team if you want to raid, loot rules, etc. They use Mumble so it'll be helpful to have that set up.

It's not a huge guild, just a bunch of friends hanging out and killing monsters and talking about nerd shit. Here's what Sheo said about them from the Legion thread:

Mean while I’m back in the same guild I was in 5 or so years ago, with a friend I’ve known since grade school and back to face smashing keyboard for realm firsts. On a full server.. yay no sleep

It be nice to just take it a bit easy.

    For once

I would burn out before I even hit 120 if I tried that.

I mean, yeah the effect of this does seem somewhat less dramatic than I'd expect. Of course even if it did all these things we're talking about a world with magic, so it's entirely possible everyone's eardrums burst and all the healers of Azeroth had to perform a massive triage after the dust settled, but it's not like they're terribly uncommon XD. I imagine some of the other incredibly powerful beings hanging about might have chose to weigh in against the terrible consequences of this as well, but all in all I think tacos.

I mean even discounting physics we're all probably screwed considering Azeroth got stabbed RIGHT in the C'thun.

I'm now convinced your theory is 100% correct, Hollister. I've been playing through Legion content in order to grind the rep needed for Void Elves. And there are a number of Legion mobs that talk about how The Fel is the only thing holding "The Shadow" back, and how we have no idea what we're fighting for, and by hindering The Legion we're dooming everything. Also, in the final Legion cutscene, when The Titans yank Sargaras back, they tell him that "his crusade is over." Crusade against what, exactly? And, as they're yanking him back, he seems pretty desperate to destroy Azeroth. This is basically a Creation God we're talking about, what about Azeroth has him so scared?

When we hit 120 we need to go back and do the Emerald Nightmare raid. There's some stuff in there you'll want to hear.

Azeroth or the god that is at its core is possibly a version of Azathoth a Lovecraftian god.

The old gods are based on Lovecrafts.

Which.. the azerite could possibly be corrupting users of it and also why it is so powerful

    Horde spoilers

Then there is bwonsamdi, the loa of death. The very one that whispered into voljins mind to make Sylvanas warchief. As bwonsamdi helped the warspear in the past. I don’t think there’s any other it can be.

He’s very present currently on the horde side and in Zandalar. He taunts you when you die in zandalar. He has also made a lineage blood pact with the leader of the zandalari trolls with lots of subtle hints referencing ner’zul when talking to arthas.

So more undead on the horde side

So, by that logic, Sargaras is not really a bad dude, per say. He's more like a "fight fire with fire" kind of guy. Put everything under the corruption of The Fel, which is controlled by him and by proxy the other Titans, because if it's already Fel corrupt than it can't be Old God corrupt. Which explains the Undead immunity to the Old Gods. Ner'Zul was a Burning Legion crony, and he created The Plague using The Fel powers granted to him by Kil'Jaeden. Which would make Undead an extension of Fel corruption, and thus immune to Old God shenanigans.

A bad dude going after other bad dudes, is still a bad dude, he's just a possible ally if the other bad dudes are worse dudes at the moment. Doesn't mean that if you win against the other bad dudes that you won't then have to figure out what to do about this guy, he's burned a lot of bridges and compromised in a lot of mind warping ways, He's far more likely to put forth his legions to taking over in town once the big baddies are dealt with as he is to going his own way to enjoy his victory.
