Based on the results on the poll located here, The Skjaldborg will be rolling Horde on a PvP server for Classic. If you have any inquiries as to these decisions, please feel free to ask J.P, Moro, or myself. Please be aware that these decisions do not stop you from making and playing on Alliance or on a different server with an alt, if you choose to do so. This just means that all official Skjaldborg events in relation to Classic WoW will be played on characters who are Horde on the selected PvP server. So, if you wish to play Classic with the Skjaldborg, keep these things in mind. If you have any questions about Classic, such as content release stages and such, you can find a thread here about Everything We Definitely Know About Classic.
As someone who has no stake in anything regarding WoW, let me offer some advice to those of you who may be less excited to play as the Horde on a PvP server: "Embrace new experiences." I have never had any compulsion to play WoW. My Warcraft days were back with Warcraft 3 when DOTA was still a mod called "Defense of the Ancients" (get it?... I am old). Despite this, I still plan to take part in this because I enjoy our community and I want to be a part of whatever we are doing as a community. I have no plans to power level my way through WoW, but if there are plague rats to slaughter, I will be there with rusty sword in hand. I invite all of you to be there too.
For the record, we're not going with a PvP server just because we think ganking people is hilarious fun. We're going with it because this game just straight up doesn't work unless you have to group up, and at this point the PvE content isn't hard enough to force that. We're currently figuring on organized events so don't worry about having to fend for yourself, and it'll be a good twenty levels or so before you're even in an area where you *can* be attacked by the Alliance.
Once we reach the threshold where can start looking at raiding we'll decide that day. But everyone would still need to hit 60, and then we'd (Moro) needs to wrangle 40 cats into a group. The nice thing about WoW is that lower level content only takes, at most, 5 people. So it's a lot easier to do short notice stuff in WoW. But once we hit critical mass and start raiding at max level, yes there will be designated raid days, but we're taking a "let's cross that bridge when we come to it" approach.
I was referring to just plain ol' "Hey, just rolled our characters, lets march out and do fetch quests!" kind of play. not raids.
not yet Hep, tbh it will be either tues/thurs. just easier that way since we claim two nights really just cause we can. those two nights are easily the most "flexable" of nights for us all.
We actually don't yet have any concrete info on when the entire game will land, or what servers will launch. Those are I reckon the bare minimum we need before we can plan anything. I'm not figuring on this being a second job though. More like our Star Wars night where people just come in, grind some levels, once we got enough maybe kill some dudes, that sorta thing.
