http://crowfall.com/#/news/buy-crowfall-for-a-friend looks like we can buy a 2nd original KS package to gift in case anybody missed the initial campaign but still wants the perks! also this last bit is important for anybody considering upgrading their KS package (like me, still really considering Amber but haven't pulled the trigger)
More detail on currency is going to work. Spoiler: TLDR The primary Currency is player crafted from Copper, Silver, and Gold ore as apposed to dropped by monsters or earned through quests. http://crowfall.com/#/news/coin-of-the-realm
I really like how they're planning currency. Seems like it will lend more to a sense of immersion vs going to grind on x creature for x hours.
this internal debate on whether or not to upgrade to amber is killing me, haha. i've had the upgrade page up for weeks but just can't click the button. i'm primarily interested in the 6 goddamn years of VIP membership that it brings along with 6 character slots. i can see being able to level multiple characters passively at the same time to be pretty beneficial. i usually enjoy playing just 1 "main" character in my MMOs but also like to be somewhat self-sufficient so i've typically had a crafter alt that can feed my main if i'm not able to do combat and crafting on just 1 toon. several of the archtypes sound like styles of play i'd enjoy as well. sounds like it's somewhat unknown whether it'll be limited to a max of 3 characters with VIP or if you'd be able train them all but still, i see it as a pretty big potential benefit for someone like me whose gaming time is somewhat limited to always have multiple characters "leveling." the other stuff that comes with amber i'm not overly concerned about since most of it would be acquired in game eventually (fort kickass, huts of questionable sexual intent, etc). the 1% bonuses here and there are nice but just that, nice. now i played a bit of DCUO once it went f2p with the wife just as a casual game we could play together but never played shadowbane or tera and never did any pvp in DCUO. i understand the combat system is touted as a mix of SB and tera w/a little DCUO and character archtypes seem pretty similar to shadowbane (not surprising since todd). if i'm wrong feel free to correct. my question to you fine folk who did play these past games seriously, how much of a real benefit do you guys think alts will be? looking at what they have planned for the game and listening to interviews on youtube i'm pretty damn excited about the game. i can see this and SC scratching just about any itch that i could have. i just don't have a ton of past experience with the systems these guys have built and am interested in your guys's opinions on them. yay!
I played TERA for a little while. To this day I still consider it one of the most fun MMO's I've ever played. Unfortunately the guild I was in at the time completely ruined the game experience for me with stupid drama, and I've never been able to get back into it since. I can't really weigh in on the usefulness of alts since TERA didn't have an alt cap and I never played SB or DCUO.
Not just Centaurs. BUT ROMAN IMPERIAL CENTAURS!!! http://crowfall.com/#/news/archetype-update-the-centaur
