There's literally no difference between the interchangeable Warhammer and Warhammer 40k. Except for names. Of the two, I find Warhammer to be more honest whereas 40k is just Warhammer (fantasy) with "space" sticker splatted over it. "Well, yea, there's the elves, night elves, orcs and undead but we're in SPACE now. Yes most of the battles still revolve around magic casting heroes wielding swords" So yea I'm actually more excited about this than if it had been 40k. Which is weird because I always prefer scifi. Just that 40k's value drops in my eyes every time I'm exposed to the genuine Warhammer. Which all means that I'm actually pretty excited about this one.
I was introduced to 40k first through video games but I have come to like both settings. The fiction itself is interesting and it has a good art style. The total dark nature of the universe is really neat too. There are no real 'good guys.'
...shit. I'm becoming a grognard. Time to buy that recliner that smells like fart and a grog glass to go with it. And a rack of bottles. Then have the keyboard on my lap and complain about fun stuff like games not being 'intelligent'.
speaking as someone who not only played both games for 20 years but also read many of the novels and worked for the company for 4 years, there are vast, vast differences between the settings. they started as fairly interchangeable, with identical rulesets and even interacted with one another within the fiction/game, but they haven't been like that for about...15 years? probably longer.
Ah, I get that - so that also explains the amount of codexes that have distantiated the two in their own separate ways.
Just watched that video, looks great! Too bad its not 40k. But I'll take WH Fantasy Battle too, they've done a great job, as always. Will likely be a day-1 purchase for me, which I haven't done since Shogun 2 with a total war game.
I was watching it and the best part was it was NOT perfect. IT had bugs, the Cavalry did not work 100% and they admitted it. It was alpha and it looked liked it but it was also still promising. That made me the most happy. I will be buying this game I think, even for full price. Even if it sucks at launch I am sure it will be patched and modded enough to make me happy.
It looks like it will be good. I'm looking forward to seeing more of the campaign and the systems they will be using there. Ofcourse i also want to see the other races.
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGVGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
