Hey guys, I didn't see anyone post on this, so I thought I would bring it to everyone's attention. There is currently a kickstarter for the tabletop Battletech. It is a great way to get some miniatures and other cool swag (depending on pledge level). Quick history. Goal: $30,000 Funded in 7 minutes. Currently at $928,025 with 25 days remaining. https://www.kickstarter.com/project...-F8uX9ZWlu3qCr0syWZbPeh8K8th5pH9nOr455PH_a8Bo
Minor follow up. This is a link to a forum where they talk in more detail about the stretch goals. More of a summary of the goals and backer levels than anything. https://bg.battletech.com/forums/in...gzQsI7ID0kNOs5s_f8Mp3KTZQqkJ2nbwm67lnkcjPDF90
Holy shit. Watch that pledge number go! (927k as of this posting) The Battletech fanbase has always been small, but let no one question that our faith is mighty and pockets deep: $500,000 in 7 mins after kickstarter posting. Although I was a fan of the Clans when I was younger (Mechwarrior 2), over time I grew apart from the Clan era stuff when I saw it brings out the worst munchkin habits in people. Still, glad to see the fanbase respond so positively. This is actually great for everyone because not only does the kickstarter now include some goodies for Spheroids, but it's a good sign for things to come.
Dang you Battletech for knowing exactly the fastest way to my wallet!!! and by that I mean anything that is Battletech... I'm kinda simple like that. Wish it was more IS focused but I'm probably going to have to dump some money on it. Just need to really look at what each level will give me.
I'm sorely tempted, even though I have no one to play with locally... DAMN IT. Bloodnamed seems like the best buy in minimum. And we gotta gets to $1 mil, so I can get my FRR.
My only problem so far is that you can select either a lance or clan star of mechs you want. Clans get another mech for the same price of what you get for four innersphere mechs. if im reading this correctly.
It's because Clanners need an audience to get anything done: 4 to do the actual work and 1 to exclaim how superior they are.
If you pick a Lance, you get a "Supply Drop", which is one random Clan mech from the first four waves of new refreshes or somesuch. So you still get 5 mechs
But what am I supposed to do with clan mechs? Light them on fire? I want innersphere mechs as that is more important to me with building out my units.
And just like that we are past the $1m mark! Looking at everything I see 9 IS lances to pick from, with most all of them having mechs that I have always liked. Sadly I don't really have anyone around to play table top with but to be honest I'm looking at it a bit more as a collector. Not in that I think it will be worth anything past the basic pledge values, but that I've always wanted my own set of miniatures painted up. Speaking of painted up... @Sheogoraath @Dihm do you all remember what all mechs the Trump Cards have used? My memory of the end there has Sheo with Clamps Sr., my thunderbolt Svafa, Dihm's Warhammer (did it ever have a name?) Skwi's Axman, I seem to remember also a Griffin that Dihm was using while the warhammer was in the shop, I also remember a Grasshopper that didn't last very long. What others were used over the years? Thinking that I will need to build up a Skjaldborg army with the Aetts represented along with the Trump Cards and the Brohirrim. Inner Sphere Command Lance - Marauder, Valkyrie, Archer, Stinger Inner Sphere Battle Lance - Phoenix Hawk, Warhammer, Rifleman, Wasp Inner Sphere Direct Fire Lance - Atlas. Marauder II, Orion, Crusader Inner Sphere Heavy Lance - Banshee, Grasshopper, Centurion, Hatchetman Inner Sphere Striker Lance - Blackjack, Panther, Wolfhound, Jenner Inner Sphere Fire Support Lance - Whitworth, Trebuchet, Bombardier, Longbow Inner Sphere Berserker Lance - Scarabus, Firestarter Omni, Axman, Berserker ComStar Level II #1 - King Crab, Highlander, Black Knight, Exterminator, Hermes, Mercury ComStar Level II #2 - Crockett, Flashman, Guillotine, Lancelot, Crab, Mongoose Additionally there is the Innersphere Retaliation set with 10 mechs for $40 from the base game and beginner boxed set. Locust, Commando, Griffin, Shadowhawk, Wolverine X2, Catapult, Thunderbolt, Awesome, Battlemaster All in all there are some of my favorite mechs in most all of the options making it quite a decent buy. At this point I'm still debating what package will get me the most of what I want.
I have fought hard and earned my Bloodname... well, okay, I bought it. Thinking Comstar #1 and really torn on the other one, either IS Command, or IS Battle probably.
MH, I ran a Hatchetman (good luck modding it to be left handed hatchet), then the Whammy, with the Griffin backup. I've got files here somewhere... Skwi had the Grasshopper, it got kicked in the face in the first mission it ran and went boom...
So I had been debating if I should go for broke and get all the IS lances, but now that I have extra money from the MW5 refund debacle I think I might just have to do it! Debating if the galaxy commander is worth it or individually buying the lances and drop ship on top of a lower tier pledge.
Well, Delta ran a Hatchman, I think @MagnusEffect had a Black Knight, and I can't remember the other two 'mechs.
The main thing going for galaxy commander is the custom art that goes with the character. If that is something that interests you. I’ll probably be going star colonel as it gets me all the lances in the quantities I want. Add a drop ship and if something else I want comes up I’ll throw some more money. Still get to name a character just no art.
Did you guys see the new stretch goals? Highlighting the two I am very intrigued by: Really don't care about the Live Stream or the MW5 at this point, but being able to separate out my 4 packs and getting maps for Tukayyid? Hells yeah
You know... whenever you boys are ready... Just sayin'. Lance screenshots for the curious: To be fair, I've been super busy too so I've been working behind the scenes to refine our previous campaign rules to fit with more limited schedules. Would be awesome to get this rolling again, though.
