I have an even better spoiler filter, I just forget everything after three days. If it's important enough to remember after that someone will undoubtedly remind me or I'll leave myself a note.
So in a bout of insomnia, I decided to watch the 2010 live action movie remake of Space Battleship Yamato. For those not familiar with the series, it's a space opera about a lone ship racing through an enemy fleet to find the magic macguffin. The ship itself is quite literally the ww2 battleship Yamato with engines strapped to the rear and a giant nose mounted cannon. Overall the movie was actually pretty good. They manage to compress the story down to about 2 hours, the acting sometimes comes off as a little stiff, and there's not enough ship to ship combat for my tastes, but the story feels complete at the end, and the dog-fighting is actually pretty good. Still pissed about the lack of ship to ship though. That's the best part of Space Operas
I think in the movie the yamato is less of the ww2 ships with just engines strapped on. it looks more of a proper overhaul to make it fit for space.
Now for the review of all the anime's this season. Will be broken down into there genres and later which ones to just run from and others to watch. Some of these will be an actual synopsis of the show while others that are hard to remember will be what I can vaguely remember or I just skimmed the show because it was not to be taste. Yes im picky about my shows. Adventure Doten ni Warau - cant really recall this show but I think it was set in feudal japan era. Slice of life Gurure Kokkuri-san Kokkuri-san - a fox spirit is summoned and becomes the caretaker of a little girl who has no friends and only eats ramen noodles. Denki-gai no Honya-san - Show around a manga store, involves lots of random silliness, and sexual innuendo. Romance Comedy Ookami Shoujo to Kuro Ouji - the name says it all the dog girl and the black prince. Girl tells popular guy in school she needs him to act as her boyfriend, he agrees but wants her to do something for him. His only request is that she acts like his dog, and is a rather sadistic person about it. Sci-Fi World Trigger Terra Formars Both of these really were not to my taste I just skimmed them a bit, both seem to be about fighting some alien invaders or something like that. Mecha Cross Ange If you think all female cast, gundams vs dragons, and lots of random sexual scenes/rape is your thing then this is your show. Harem Trinity Seven Grisaia no Kajitsu Madan no Ou to Vanadis If you like harem animes that just involve a single guy and lots of random females that throw themselves at the MC for no particular reason then these are for you. Grisaia no Kajitsu I watched for a bit. Seemed like a dating sim turned into a anime. now for the bread winners and the ones to run from. Run don't walk from this anime/trash Tribe Cool Crew Karen Senki Hi-sCoool SeHa Girl Kaitou Joker Run do not walk from these, all the animations are very required taste and stories were even worse. Winners of the Season Fate Stay Night :Unlimited Blade Works - Its Fate Stay Night what else is there to say about it. Unlimited blade works version so get ready for people to die. Gundam Reconquista in G - has a very original gundam vibe about the show, maybe because the original director is running the show for this one. Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso - Slice of Life / romance comedy / Drama - MC has traumatic experience as a child from mother dying and can no longer play the piano, childhood friend introduces him to a female classmate that plays the violin, he falls in love and re-discovers music with her, but classmate is only interested in the MC's best friend who just seems to date every girl who crosses his path. Childhood friend of MC has crush on him. RMC drama ensues Shingeki no Bahamut - Genesis - this show seems like its going to be a crazy ride. MC is a bounty hunter, in western/medieval theme, people have the ability to summon demons to fight for them, MC because of his idiocy gets Bahamut for is demon which is a hot female demon, which she only makes a contract him "MC" because he says he knows where her home is and she is trying to find it... he actually has no fucking clue. Ore Twintail ni Narimasu - This show seems to be almost on the level of craziness as Kill la Kill. Time will tell. Male MC loves twintails/pony tails. earth is invaded by aliens that steal twintails from girls. The male MC is given a bracelet to transform him into a warrior to save the twintails of the girls of earth. Bracelet turns him into a twintailed mecha armored female loli with superhuman strength which he uses to fight the alien invaders that are stealing twintails. There are a few others but that is it for now.
Another really good comedy this season is "when supernatural battles became commonplace" which is produced by Trigger. I only got to watch part of the first episode earlier today while at ye olde anime shoppe, but it looks really good. Also it's Trigger, not much convincing needed really. It's a high school setting where suddenly the 5 members of the Literature club are bestowed super powers, the four girls get awesome powers while the one boy is given a completely useless "black flame" power. Also, Gundam Build Fighters Try is really good... if you're into that sorta thing... and by that sorta thing I mean model building.
The creator of one piece actually uses real life people and movie characters for his inspiration for creating his characters for one piece. Such as all the admirals are all based of older Japanese actors.
I looked at One Piece a while back, saw the number of episodes, and said "Nope, don't have no time for that".
One piece the original Japanese version is really good, lots of feels, ass kicking, and funny moments. The one piece dubbed for America is a lame Saturday morning cartoon edited to hell for little kids. Lots of episodes so it can be a little overwhelming to get started.
It makes me sad when they take some bad mother and give hims some pussy ass voice because it is dubbed in the US and they suck at life.
Oddly enough ive been told that Japanese actually prefer the English dub version compared to the original Japanese. This doesn't take into account of all anime, just popular ones that spend some money on the voice actors. with that being said, the only English version I can watch is cowboy bebop. everything else is nails on a chalk board but some of the Japanese voices are just as bad.
