There's a new MegaMek pack up for download, make sure you grab and install it before Friday night. https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B9YEnZ4eRwpEcUxsU3RWTnZOT3M&usp=sharing
Thanks for reminding me, have to see how it runs on windows 10 with the new laptop. Thankfully I also have my old laptop here as a backup.
and nothing that uses wheels... Alpha made the mistake of bringing wheeled vehicles and motorized infantry into snow country (it was my idea, really)
no hover arty i know of, but tracks should be able to plow right through. look to the Goblin and Ignis SPGs for examples. if you want to be certain, i recommend doing a test on a snow map before your drop.
Ignis Light Artillery, 30 ton tank found under IS Advanced rules. 4/6 tracked, Thumper artillery with 40 rounds, 197 BV. It's in the Megamek unit listing.
For damage reference, the Thumper is 15/5 (15 damage in landing hex, 5 damage in each hex around it), Sniper is 20/10 and Long Tom is 30/20/10.
I'm down with using Ignises. we can even have me hang back to protect them, since I'm down a set of weapons.
That might be best anyway considering they're gonna have lots of reinforcements coming in and we might have to end up retreating. Be quicker to get that big lug off the map.
the original: http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Ignis I know the original Ignis is old as shit, but it was the only lore-friendly tank that fit the profile I was looking for (30 tons + tracked + 64kph). The Ignis SPG is a Magnus-design, but I kept it plausible as simply a retrofit that guts the innards and weapons and straps a giant cannon to the roof (vaguely similar to what happened to some WWII tanks). The vehicle was extremely common and successful so its not implausible the design could been produced even after the fall of the RWR . Also, I liked the name and thought it was fitting for an artilley piece. The really nice thing about the Ignis is that it is the cheapest SPG you can possibly field and allows more BV to be distributed elsewhere.
